You begin to win with the strength & conditioning coach. This hire must blow everything out of the water. 2. New OC, DC, OL coach, DL coach, secondary coach, QB & receivers coach (That is 8 new coaches counting the strength coach and head coach) 3. The head coach must be allowed to hire the middle school football coaches that feed Gallatin This is just the beginning of many things that will have to change if Gallatin is ever going to get to where they once were. New Gallatin HC should consider himself blessed if he can bring in 4 new coaches. Very rare you can hire an entirely new staff Edited November 26, 2018 by MidTennFootball

You can't come in and hire 8 new coaches ANYWHERE in Tennessee. Not even D2 large. That is a pipe dream. It is a school first and like somebody already mentioned I doubt they need 8 new PE teachers. There is this little hiccup called tenure. You can't just drop somebody in order to hire your 8th new coach. The budget is what it is. The number of non-faculty coaches across the state in on the rise for a reason. Then you have to find guys that have jobs that allow them to be off for practice and games. Tough to find. One of the middle school coaches is great! Beasley at Rucker always does a great job and came a 2 point conversion away from the middle school championship again this year after already defeating the champion. It is a wonder he has not gotten on the staff yet. The other coach at Shafer is pitiful. I do not know if he is coaching because no one else will or what but his teams are usually not good and he runs a different system. Anyway, the HC will never be able to pick those guys. It has never been that way since I can remember. The freshmen coaches usually have their hands full especially with the new TSSAA rules in place. Hey I really don't care if Gallatin ever wins another football game but what I proposed is what needs to happen if Gallatin is to ever get back to the type of program where when they competed for state championships every year. By examining the results of the past twenty+ years I am not sure that the administration and school board really want to emphasize football and athletics. From the responses that I am receiving on this board I now know why Gallatin is down and will not get back on top in the near future. Anytime the majority of fans give multiple excuses as to why things cannot change it should be a hint that the school is not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to get back on top and be successful and that's ok. Now everyone knows what is happening before they apply for the job. It's difficult to win a championship but its even more difficult to win multiple state titles. jimb1972
EXACTLY, cbg! It goes all the way to the top! Things have come togrther for Beech (much success shoiuld go to previous principal) but rest of county is not serious about football! I say go with Mark Wilson, he has done wonders with BB program and has excellent credentials! GO JACKETS!

You have to be realistic here. There is no way the new head coach is going to pick the middle school coaches and bring in 8 entirely new guys. The school board does not care about any of the 7 schools within the county regarding athletics. And I guarantee that Crabtree nor Hatfield picked their middle school coaches mainly because multiple middle schools fed different high schools. Fballfan1978
who are the candidate? (not reading through all the old threads)
tubthumper
I'm an outsider that has watched Gallatin play. They have the athletes and those athletes are better than every school in the neighboring area excluding Mt. Juliet (who is a 6A school). You can name drop Hurd at Beech and Malone at Station Camp, but overall Gallatin has the better athletes as a team. If you dropped Crabtree, Osteen, Perry, etc. in as the head coach you would win and win immediately.

We will never be any good and the entire town is stir crazy living in the 80’s. There are no athletes here and the QB Club consists of some grandmoms and two cats. One of those cats only has three legs too.
