Oak Ridge Football 2019

Another tread on CoachT has the new Sonny Moore  rankings...Oak Ridge is ranked # 16 overall and the # 1 true Class 5A team. The ranking list Catholic as the #1 5A team but we know Catholic is no longer in the 5A Classification.

I know most fans don't put any validity in polls but here are my thoughts. If you are going to have rankins/polls then I like Oak Ridge somewhere in there. Do I feel we are the # 1 5A team? NO. To me Knoxville Central is # 1. Do I feel with a tremendous amount of hard work we can earn the right to call OR # 1 at the end of the season? YES.

I am excited for this season to start and watch the Wildcats improve from week to week. Best of luck in practice Cats. We believe in you and are pulling for you everyday. RWR! Wildcat Pride.

Mitchell Gibbons and Cameron Malone are at a Maryville College prospect camp at Rocky Top Sports Complex in Gatlinburg today.  Maryville is undergoing grounds maintenance.

I've never seen Malone play football, but he progressed remarkably last spring as a track and field athlete, improving so much in the triple jump that he went to State and made the All-PrepXtra team in the jumps. He improved his 400 down to the 52-53 range, which is getting there. With long legs, long speed, jumping ability, and the coordination to triple jump, he may surprise a few people on the football field. I watched the triple jump at the Sectional meet and thought he had potential.

I was at the ship Saturday around 6pm and we had 4 or 5 Wildcats working hard doing drills and running the hill. Most kids are out doing who knows what so it was great to see. Those are the ones who will show out next month.Go Cats

I love those players and wish we knew their names. I also wish more Wildcats were there. RWR!

Saw the guys at practice. Looking sharper, improving and lots of new guys getting rotated in on offense. Heard rumor from one of the guys there that Jacob Adams got called up to the Blue Grey Bowl Game roster in Texas. Nothing on his twitter so probably a rumor IMO.

Jacob did put on his twitter that he was honored to be selected to the Blue Grey Bowl game so it is not a rumor. Interesting you mentioned new guys getting looked at on offense because I have been wondering if Jacob could maybe play some RB at the end of the season and playoffs. Farragut, when they won State several years ago used a big, fast back to take over the State Title game. Just a thought since we already have two tough RBs

He's a very good high school linebacker and maybe he could play fullback if we had one...but "running back"?????

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
