One thing Ive learned about high school football is the reg season should be about getting better.I can understand your point of not wanting to play a great team right b4 a big region game. But in the playoffs you will have to do the same thing so great job by the coaches finding nothing but tough teams.I would rather play AC than drive almost to Nashville but there is more involved than what Oak Ridge wants. This sch will prepare us for the playoffs as much as any sch we have had in years.

Your post actually makes some sense. But I still believe there's more to lose than they will gain because Powell and Fulton are immediately following.

Maybe the open dates with those teams didn't coincide with ours? I think Oakdale and Sunbright were open on that date though. I think we should've scheduled one of them. Would be a great game that would really get our guys ready and primed for a big playoff run.

I'm pretty sure HVA, DB, Farragut, West, Powell, and Fulton will do that for us, don't you? Are you telling me that playing Mt Juliet, on top of all of the good teams I just mentioned, will be a difference maker in playoff preparedness??????

That's fair.It really does help playing bigger faster good teams.Last yr it took week 10 b4 we figured out where we had to better to win in the big games.Maybe next yr those things will be exposed earlier and we can fix them.Look at AC last yr and how bad their sch hurt them while Greenville was way more tested.90% of time you don't get better playing bad teams. If we are good enuff it will be a really fun season.

From what I understand, Sevier County dropped us, creating the open date in the schedule or it would have remained the same.  Clinton then moved into the spot left by Sevier County as they lined up the Region games.  Then they had to try to fill an 8th game and an away game created by Clinton moving. Every potential opponent was contacted close around here, all declined to play including AC, Bearden and several others.  Even checked some Western North Carolina schools, schedules didn't match up (you have to have the same open date). Both Mt. Juliet and OR were talking but each was hoping they could find a closer opponent, but it didn't work out, so they agreed to play a two year home in home with us going there first, then they come here in 2020.  They are going to be pretty good and be a tough opponent.
