I’m pretty sure the team that won the game is in Marion County lmbo. Here is a picture of someone from whitwell holding it. And the team who won it

If the refs were on Whitwells side they showed it poorly.

BigDawg, SP could say the same thing. We had a ball that was called a fumble that we still think didn’t come out until our runner hit the ground at the goal line in the quarters. We had a touchdown called back that still to this day no one understands.  We didn’t get points on either one of those things. Those things just happen sometime. It sucks, but that’s the way breaks go sometime. Cornersville had a very good football team. I honestly think there were about 5-6 teams that were all very close this season. Whitwell got the breaks and the gold. That’s all that matters. They aren’t changing the outcome. It is what it is.

I know, and I appreciate your level headed response. It’s a tough pill to take knowing our gold ball sits in the losing team’s trophy case. There were so many missed calls and botched calls in that game. When the outcome of a game is determined by refs, everyone wonders what should have been.  Whitwell will always know that trophy is undeserved, even their fans said so as they left the stadium, and we will always be the team that “lost” the game.  I’m sorry you had to experience the same helpless feeling of being robbed.

Bottom line is the refs were from East Tennessee, the announcers on TV were all biased, and already knew who they wanted to win that game. If the quote on quote TD hold call isn’t called back Cornersville probably wins 20-6 , 13-0. If we’re being honest. Every single big play was called back on Cornersville. The not called horse collar at the end infront of 2 referees was ridiculous not to be called. I’m not even a Cornersville fan but it was highway robbery taken from the boys.

Thank you for your unbiased honesty. Coming from someone outside of the fan base, it is valuable. People who are not looking through Whitwell’s eyes can clearly see this game was rigged. I understand they love and support their boys. They will never admit the truth about this game and can’t be blamed for being that way about it.

The receiver for SP was about a half yard off the ball on the TD called back which made it illegal formation. I saw the film just to clarify
