To me, District 2-A teams are the stronger teams than from District 1-A. Having said that, Hancock County in my opinion has been overrated all season long. I think Cosby is the team to beat in the R1-A Tourney. The #1 seed from District 1(University High) is a good team but they just don't have the players that Cosby has. Greenback really could beat University High in the Quarterfinals in what I would call a mild upset myself.

The North Greene & Hancock County game is really a toss up but I will give the slight advantage to Hancock County though. I predict Jellico to beat Unaka in the Quarterfinals. Cosby will have no trouble handling Hampton in the final Quarterfinal matchup. Looking at the R-1A bracket, I honestly think Cosby & Greenback could be in the R-1A Championship.

All this talk of Greenback possibly beating UH is absolutely laughable. Its preposterous. They're an 11 win team. From District 2, the 4 seed. They've lost to Washburn. They've lost to Jellico, twice. They've lost to Berean. They've lost to First Baptist Academy. They've lost to Unaka... UH wins by 20+.

Unaka should beat Jellico, but that 3 hour his ride is a wild card.

NG/Hancock should be a dandy. That is if there are any roads left coming out of Sneedville by Saturday.

Hampton will probably give Cosby all they can handle. I'm sure Ned has made those boy's lives miserable the past few days at practice, they should have a fire under their rears come Saturday.

North Greene is a lot better than most people think.  They have a pretty good combination of players.  They have height and are pretty athletic.  The young coach they have is full of energy and he really gets his players going.

It is according to which Hampton team shows up.  From what I hear there is some tumoil with the team and fans right now, but I would not bet against a Ned Smith coached team this time of year.  Smith seems disliked by many, but all the man does is WIN every year.

I’m not saying Gb will win but the games that you are talking about GB loosing, several of those were without our football players and one didn’t get to start playing until mid January.

Win or loose we will give it what we’ve got and when we played unaka we didn’t have our two big guys and our point guard just played for 2 1/2 quartets.

With all that is going on at Hampton right now. They will probably come out of Cosby whipped! Awful when all the parents and adults surrounding the kids destroy hard work and something that could be special! Hampton has the potential maybe not this year, but in the next 2 to make a good run at the gold ball but only if they come together as a team and let the coach be the coach!

The only other Tennessee native I can remember competing for world team spots is the older Boykin in freestyle and he wasn't nearly as close as Nick has been to making world teams.
