Best thing is for Greenville to promote someone from the staff and not upset the applecart. Maryville did it and won the state the very first year. Knox West should have done the same thing and you see what happened there.

Coach Ballard was a great Coach and Man. 2nd fastest Coach to 100 wins behind GQ (funny he was on GQ's first coaching staff at Maryville).  He will still be around since he is still teaching and being the Assistant AD.  Glad he gets to spend more time with his family.

I think they will.  It will probably be Dan Hammonds in my opinion.  If they go Outside the Program I think it would be Cody Baugh (Being a former great Devil QB and QB coach under Ballard before he took the Head Coaching job at Cherokee.

Ballard thinks it will come from within and i'm sure he will have a big say in who gets the job.

Greeneville still powers on for years to come. Things won’t change in Greeneville. The same state power year in and out. Like I’ve said Ballard did his coaching from January to July imo. The coaches we have in place will continue that.

The job comes down to Spradlin and Hammonds imo. That’s the reason neither were named interim head coach.

Now we have to keep everyone on staff and no one get hard feelings for not getting the job and leaving.

Who will run the offense? I have always heard that Hansel has no desire to be a Coordinator.

Cody Baugh back to Greeneville?

The Director of Schools who hired him at Cherokee is now the Director of Schools in Greeneville.  Stranger things have happened, though I'd expect them to promote from within due to all their success.  Baugh's teams at Cherokee haven't even lived up to the standard that Mike Sivert set there for years.

I halfway expect Jeremy Bosken to apply for it.  I know he just landed a plum gig a few weeks ago, but GHS the kind of place where he could walk in and win a championship and he knows it.  He's not afraid to jump ship when he sees greener grass.

I meant Cody Baugh as OC. Head Coach I believe will come from the inside. Bosken has no chance due to his personality, rash decision maker and could be considered a job hopper. Cain Ballard set a standard that will be hard to meet, but there are men there that can walk in his foot steps. Class may be the word I'm looking for.

Baugh’s first year at Cherokee he was 6-1 before his starting quarterback had a season ending injury and last year he lost his starting quarterback before the season even started due to a basketball injury, and to be fair Greeneville still used some of his offensive schemes when he was an offensive coordinator at Greeneville during most of Ballard’s successful seasons, and also one could ask how anybody else’s records are as a head coach that are within the program right now?

Cain Ballard was 0-0 as a head coach, worked out well.

i should say I’m a Cody Baugh fan and he has done a solid job at Cherokee, but I Hammonds or Spradlin are more in the mold of Ballard. 3 great but still relatively young coaches

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
