Difference would have been speed. Whitwell had the line play to get stops. But like you said what a game. Davenport, Cates, Stevens & Barker vs Petty, Wingo, Thundur, Ashworth & Stewart. Remember the mismatch was Soph CB vs SR WR in 2016, Whitwell had to play man and stack the box. Barker threw for 300 yards.

Everyone thought Notre Dame would of beat us cause of speed and they had a lot more athletes than we did. But we ended up beating them by like 24 or so. If we had another line like that we’d be good.

Seen a Social Media post the other night where some made shirts for the Pee wee and wee pee that said Future State Champs  oh boy yes we will be hearing it for years! This year Harvest Champs!!! 2025-2028 TSSAA State Champs! Dynasty just started baby!!!

LMBO.. I don’t doubt it one bit. Winning a little league valley championship is not quite as hard as winning a gold ball. If little league championships equaled gold balls there would be about 50 gold balls in the valley.

The 2016 Sequatchie team was better than Whitwell, SP, Marion (2016) or anyone else in the valley the past 3 seasons. That team was really, really good. You beat a loaded Notre Dame team, then lost to an Alcoa team that was even better than the one they put on the field this season.

Good thing is that Alcoa team only scored 24 on us, second lowest scoring total all year. We played a great game just that defense for them is unreal. Hard to move the ball on a team like that and plus there line play was amazing

You’re right about them. Some fans of Whitwell, SP, and Marion would probably disagree, but I call it like I see it. That Sequatchie team was REALLY good.

2016 team was strong up front with lots of experienced juniors and seniors. 2015 season may have gone similarly if not for some injuries up front. 1 senior was lost the very first series of the season again South Pitt, before that he'd been an NAIA/Division III type prospect, was getting real attention. Another missed the last half of the season. He did sign with an NAIA team and is still playing. Overall it was a good building season, but a pair of close region losses could have been turned around with a little more push by the line.

One good thing about the current coach and staff, more players will begin playing in 9th grade and by the time they're juniors and seniors will be much more advanced. One of the seniors came out this year in 12th, first since 8th, and did well in the secondary but could have been a very good player with more experience. Another, a lineman, among biggest on the team came out this year in 12th and was behind in technique and experience. He was injured and wasn't able to do much anyway, but would have had more of an impact with four years of work (barring injury which can happen anytime).

Did you feel the 2018 Indians underachieved? They had most of that 2017 team returning.  I was thinking it would have been a better year. 2016 Indian team though was one for the ages. That defense holding Alcoa to 24 that season was really good. Apparently your old coach knew how to get it done. He almost beat them at Upperman this year.

No. Started off a little out of whack with new starting quarterback, new head coach and some new staff, and some main spots to fill, plus two of toughest games, Meigs and S Pitt were in first month. Things settled in after that and they were playing their best of the year late. Won at York, gave UHS their second toughest game of season after Alcoa, came up 3 points short vs Red Bank. Even with a large roster they didn't have quite the depth needed yet after some season ending and nagging injuries, but it should be there in coming years with more coming out and playing all four years. Losing a tall, talented WR about halfway through hurt more than it may have seemed it would at the time, could have helped quite a bit vs Upperman and Red Bank.

Should be more good games with SP the next several years.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
