That’s great info. So he’s not your typical freshman then I’m guessing? Have you seen him play as well? I’ve heard nothing but positive things about him.

He is not a typical freshman. Wise beyond his years! Always makes the right football decisions!

Cant wait for Big Red Nation to see him play. Could you imagine:

Ryan Damron - QB

Jayln Foster - RB

Jamarcus Johnson - RB

Jawan Odoms - WR

(Not sure where they will put Dante Davis)

Mekhi Sanders - LB

Joe Travis - FS/SS

Paul D. Atkins - LB

Davy Harrod - DE

That to me looks like a very potent and dang near unstoppable offense with a good solid o-line. As far as the defense those guys are going to be the core of a very solid defense that should get better as the season goes on.

If Damron does end up starting, he and Odoms will be a fun duo to watch for a couple of years. Might soften the blow of losing Parish and Thompson more than we thought.

Also heard (as of spring) that Jalen Herring was returning after a year hiatus. He was a starting defensive back in 2017 and was in a position to take on a bigger role last season.

Who knows, 2019 could turn out to be a fun season if the O-line comes together. Had a couple of holes on defense in spring as well that need to improve, but I look forward to seeing this team as a finished product.

I'm 90% sure Damron is going to start! Only reason I leave that door open a little is because he is a freshman and it is super rare for HC to start a freshman QB but this kid will end up being in my opinion THE BEST QB to ever come through the program here at Henry County. Being that he will be a 3 or 4 year starter he should break every single passing record at HC I believe. He has the talent that is no question. Him and Jawon not this year but next year WILL BE another Parrish/Thompson duo! What I like about this kid is he is a duel threat QB with some really good speed! I would not want to be an opposing team trying to gameplan for all the weapons HC has on offense!  What are you going to do? Try to slow down our run game? Fine we will throw it over the top and beat you! Going to get pressure on our QB and slow down the passing game? Fine we will run Jayln "The Phantom" Foster on you! Think you can stop him? Fine we will run Jamarcus Johnson on you and you WONT stop him! Too many weapons! If the defense of Henry County develops and is pretty good we should be in Semi-Finals this year if not another Cookeville trip! Like I said before it's a good time and a fun time to be a Patriot! Enjoy the ride and most importantly GO BIG RED!!!!:popcorneater::popcorneater::popcorneater:

Talked to an Inman kid last night that knows him. He said they were all excited that he was coming. Also said the kid has been catching a lot of flak for leaving Martin. So let’s make sure we welcome him with open arms over here and make him part of the family. Kid also told me about a big lineman that was transferring to Grove next year from middle TN. Said he was a really good player. That freshman class is going to be something else!

Dang that is awesome! I think another thing is people see what is going on at Henry County with the football program! We have been for the most part a top team in 5A the past 10 years with 3 championship appearances and 2 championships. Over the next 4 years I expect more championship appearances with the talent we have coming and with what we already have.

Ryan Damron got an invite to Quincy Avery's Flight School which is a QB training camp in Atlanta, Georgia.  Only 100 QB's across the nation got the invite. Deshaun Watson and Josh Dobbs will be there for one session! So awesome and a great opportunity for Ryan!

Wow. That’s big time!! I saw where he also made the Tennessee future stars team, as did Zamariyon Kendall. That will be a heck of a one-two punch for years to come.

    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
    • McKenzie had no trouble with Huntingdon.
    • Has BA landed any cornfed cowboys to block up front?
    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
