A few thoughts on how the district played out.

  • I am down and out because of my Bobcats, I understand they are young, but I thought they would turn corner and compete.
  • Clay is not losing to anyone in this district.
  • RBS boys did exactly what i expected, the general sentiment from around the district is this is the poorest coached team by far.  As I've stated previously, development is lacking with this group and are easiest to game plan for based off 2 times I watched.  I had a district coach tell me if they were really coached up, they would be in state tournament.
  • Gville is the wildcard from this district.
  • Tdale to up and down all year.
  • Monterey got most out of what they have IMO.
  • Range play really hard, not ton of talent.
  • Jackson just did not have much fire power.

I cant wait to see how this shakes out, hoping both teams make it to sub-state at least.  Go Bobcats!!!!

PC has talent but I question not using some of the very talented nonstarters way more this year. They will be better next year and should be back in the region tournament.

As long as Rob Edwards is the coach Clay County will be the favorite IMO.

I think he is one of the best coaches in the state. But I also believe he is losing some really special players.  Clay and Monterey should make for some great games next year. But don’t count Monterey out this year.  We don’t win pretty sometimes but we win.

I agree. Coach Edwards is a stand up guy as well as one of the best coaches around. He has coached some great players, (Tyreke Key obviously comes to mind) and does a superb job keeping egos and attitudes under control. He don't tolerate the "show boating" and his players know this. He should be proud not only of his coaching ability, but also his attitude and the respect he has from others all over the district. He has a good bunch of boys and I'm sure they would tell you he has taught them not only about the game, but how to be respectful young man. Good luck to Clay County and Coach Edwards. IMO win or lose in the championship game, they are the best team in 6A.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL

    • Science Hill has had a lot of athletes over the years as well.     I totally agree with you
    • You do know that on a young, down season we only lost to Dyersburg in the playoffs by less than a touchdown?! You act like those two teams are unbeatable and way above our skill level
