they are going to be good, actually having to find a spot on d to put a kid that's coming back that didn't get to play this year.  people may have forgotten but he is special at line backer

Nothing new.. they have been good for the past two years as well. I don’t think anyone thinks they won’t be really good. Lake County, Huntingdon, Greenback, SP. Two of those four teams will be in Cookeville.

Lake County should be in the semifinals again, but vs Huntingdon in 2019. These are the two best teams in the west. Someone will move the ball on you though.

Ya think? We have one of the toughest schedules in single A...outside of the region of course! When any 1A team opens Onion City and Crockett Co well...you’re not gonna see ANYONE more physical than those 2 bruisers...so Yes you’re correct! When you bury cupcakes and step up to higher classifications against teams with huge success...yes dude someone will move the ball on us? Of course we already know all of East Tennessee WORSHIPS huntingdon...myself I see them repeating? Write it down...this is LCs year! Injuries can kill a season...we must survive the 1st 2 games! Personally I’d love the rubber match with y’all...

LMBO... ok youngun no need to be cranky. I said Lake County will be one of the top 4 teams in the state. I also said one of the four I named would win the gold ball. What else do you want? We know every so often the stars align and Lake County makes the title game. It could happen again in 2019. I never said you had no chance.

Sounds like all of 1A is in big trouble!

I have read his post 4 times now and see nothing that would indicate he is cranky. And he never said anyone was claiming LC had “no chance”. You don’t have to be so condescending.

Lord have mercy youngun. He seemed a little cranky with the exclamation points so I was assuring him I thought his team would be one of the four teams in 1A with a chance of winning the gold. BTW.. I hope the big purple machine gets cranked up and back to the days when Coach Morris was in his prime and had them rolling into the finals most years.

Why do you call many people “youngun”?  I’m far from it. And maybe the exclamation points meant he was excited. Doesn’t have to mean he was cranky. And thanks for the kind words about my Dawgs.

Calling someone youngun is much nicer than many of the names I see people called on here. LMBO

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
