Tennessee Wrestling Community:

Just South of Nashville, in Middle Tennessee, sits the small and thriving community of Mount Pleasant. Situated about 30 miles southwest of Franklin, Mount Pleasant is home to three schools (Elementary, Middle, and High School) that are adjacent to one another creating the potential for a wrestling powerhouse on one campus in one very supportive and very enthusiastic community. The Middle School and High School both have facilities that are ready to be used, school administrators that are ready to take their athletic programs to the next level by building wrestling programs and cultivating an appetite for success that envisions future championships. The elementary school is a Reward School that has created a perfect scenario for kids clubs to flourish and feed directly into the middle school before setting foot on the mats in high school, thus creating a pipeline of wrestling dominance for many years to come. Mount Pleasant schools are a part of Maury County. Maury County Public Schools have seen an increase in involvement in the sport of wrestling with wrestling programs recently beginning at Spring Hill HS and Columbia Central HS in the past few years.

Here is what we need:

1. Any unused wrestling mats willing to be donated

2. A coach who is ready to partner with stakeholders to build quality student-athletes resulting in state champions in a community ready to embrace this sport and benefit from the citizens the sport of wrestling produces.

If anyone knows of a wrestling mat ready to be donated, please email Timothy Drinkwine, Ed.D. at tdrinkwine@mauryk12.org

Any interested individual who is ready to come to Mount Pleasant and help begin something special needs to also email Dr. Drinkwine (email above).

Hey coach, been a while! Reach out to Ray Casias in Spring Hill. He owns Tennessee BJJ and has shown interest in supporting local upstart wrestling programs in that area. He may be willing to help out.

Best,

Thadd Little

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
