Football is in Cookeville because they submitted the winning bid of $253,000.

I don't know what the attendance numbers were for Cookeville.  And TSSAA doesn't get anything from championship games ticket sales.

Who gets the championship game ticket sales?

So TSSAA rents the Tech facility for $250,000 a year? And Cookeville gets concessions as well?

All I know is TSSAA awarded Cookeville the championship games on a winning bid of $253,000 dollars which is what Cookeville doles out to the Association.

Cookeville keeps all ticket sales.  I would imagine they keep all concessions & parking as well.

So it takes 21,000 paid admissions at $12 each to break even.  With 9 championship games they need an average attendance of just under 2500 per game.

Apparently TN Tech lost money this year.

I get that Cookeville isn't centrally located and is a bit more of a drive vs. Vandy or MTSU, but what is the complaint with Tech?

I personally like the feel of a packed stadium that you get at Tech vs barely being able to tell fans are there at a Nissan Stadium. Vandy and MTSU aren't as bad. I have always been in attendance for the early game at Tech so parking isn't an issue but it may be for the 2nd or 3rd game. Tech is pretty easy to get to as well (No turns once you get off I-40).

Don't blast me, i'm just wondering what the issues are with Tech?

I am a Tech grad and personally love the colors but i could care less if the games are held there vs. Vandy/MTSU or even Austin Peay. (The State Champ Pictures look good regardless of which College Logo is in the background!) I do think however, that hosting the State Championship Games at a College or even Pro Stadium is a must. It only helps to magnify the game.

It’s all about to facilities and experience for the players. Let’s be honest there are high school stadiums in Tennessee that have better.

Most complaints are the facility and the east of center location in the state. The facility is 50 plus years old and the turf is 12-13 years old.

Not sure if there’s a natural grass venue in the state wants to have 9 games in three days in December on their field. Another reason to host the games at different venues. Especially if they lose money.

Does anyone know or found out what the attendance was for the championship games?  How many tickets were sold?

Edit:

@FridayMainEvent this is a job for someone with inside contacts.  Like you.

They have been sitting on it like a State secrete.  Tech is supposed to be writing a $253,000 check to the TSSAA, and I expect to hear Tech took a loss this year.
