Fortunately , there are two spots available for teams from this area to make the state tourney. I would be totally shocked if Bearden isn’t one of the two. Right now, I would consider Maryville, Catholic, and Oak Ridge the frontrunners for the other spot from Region 2. 

Can’t forget about Region 1- from looking at records and past results it looks like D-B, Morristown East & West,  and possibly Sevier County & TN High may be the top teams. Science Hill appears to be WAY down this year.

The kicker is that tournaments often have some unexpected results so who knows what will happen.

Last night was more of a true representation of both teams.  Bearden's defense was dominant.  At first I didn't quite understand why Pember was guarding Anderson, but quickly realized why Coach Parrot

I know it’s way too early to talk about next year but I would give Catholic a very slight edge over Maryville looking ahead to next year- if they are even in AAA next year. Isn’t Catholic going to be in the private division next year?

They are required to go down a division. I think it will be Maryville and Bearden again next year.

The Irish will be moving to Division II AA next season in the East region with McCallie, Baylor, and Chattanooga Christian (a 4 team Region sounds ridiculous to me).  They will return 4 starters and they will play an extremely competitive schedule against teams from Washington D.C. and possibly IMG Academy in a tournament along with some local schools both private and public.

      Can’t believe no one posted on this and gave this team the recognition they deserve!  AAU team Tennessee went to Iowa and done what no other team had ever done and took down Iowa and the strength by holds in AAU nationals!!! Yes McCallie had a solid group of 8th graders and they showed up but we had an AAU team that wrestled their butt off and we didn’t just place in the top 5 … we won the whole dang thing! Yes the NHSCa’s were happening and that may have hurt but never once had TN ever won the national folkstyle duals national championship!!  It was a team effort and some amazing young kids!!!    We are not a fly over state any more… on a side note : we have any even better team for cadet National's team duals in Utah and have a chance to sweep both duals which would be unprecedented!!! However the funds aren’t there and USA isn’t in th position to help these kids get to utah as was AAU that got us to Iowa! Stay tuned for some oppertunities to help make a statement for Tn!!!

      Not gonna lie, it’s been hard watching my alma mater go through a tough stretch on the grid iron. But this thread is even worse. y’all sound like a bunch of jr high mean girls, popping off, while hiding behind screen names.
