Ag Center

Can you imagine being in the room with whoever the decision makers were at the time and hearing the proposal to move The State Tournament to a AGRICULTURAL CENTER? Just put yourself in one of their shoes and imagine voting YES on the cow palace. This baffles me every year. Google any other state tournament in the country. heck, Arkansas even uses an arena. If you are one of the people who has a seat at that  table I would love to hear what it was that got you to vote yes. Please educate me!

The same it’s always been MONEY! TSSAA has never cared what’s best for their actual customers, they are pretty much the NCAA and all they care about is the money!

Grow a pair, who cares just wrestle....oh wait you don’t you just get on here every year to cry about where the kids wrestle because your 97’ ford truck can’t make the trip. Middle Tennessee is the MIDDLE of Tennessee so just because it’s convienant to have it in Chattanooga like you would like it it wouldn’t be convenient for easy Tennessee soooooo they put it in middle Tennessee so that it’s easier for everyone to get to PLUS the ag center lets us use their facilities for free so what’s better than free? But hey when next year rolls around and you make this same post AGAIN just remember they aren’t going to change it and the only people who agree with you are your fellow Chattanooga friends

If you don't make a profit (our sport), you are relegated to the rear of the line. I have used the the dollar sign for the TSSAA myself at times, but the number 1 thing they provide besides a blue print for the structure, rules and enforcement of High School athletics, they pay a great deal for Catastrophic Insurance. Catastrophic insurance left to the individual school would result in most schools dropping many sports particularly the contact sports. They are a business. Who Isn't? They have offices (very humble), staff, salaries and insurance themselves. We rundown the TSSAA, yet spend thousands on our kids to improve them, while screaming at refs, yelling at coaches and then often get upset over the price of a High School ticket all the while we will spend thousands to go to a bowl or Super Bowl game. Yeah the Center could be improved, but people have forgotten how bad our sport was treated in Chattanooga as well. I apologize for the rambling up front fellas.

Well in my opinion as a fan I like the view the cow palace brings instead of being in the nose bleed section anywhere you sat at UTC the wrestlers looked liked ants where as at the cow palace you can see pretty good across the place and watch solid wrestling the whole tournament.

Totally agree. Parking is 1000% better also.

I ref for them, I promise they aren’t hurting for money and they rip everyone off especially football, so they could spend the money on an actual venue like say MTSU but instead choose to not spend that money but still make a ton off those who did attend! I don’t care if it’s no longer in Chattanooga(like Nooga hasn’t owned the state tourneys anyways). The fact is for those like me that had to puff on an nebulizer before most matches at tournaments the air quality at the horse barn is terrible for wrestlers that would be like me. I have went twice, won’t do that again and I love the sport of wrestling but I would travel to Macon before I would do Franklin again!  And before saying how bad you were treated at UTC which wasn’t great, it was nice to wrestle at a college, one in which many of those same kids might attend later even if not wrestling. I loved it being at McClellan Gym and being able to go during breaks to the student center and playing pool and arcade games. Not sure the wrestlers were ever really treated badly there, maybe just the parents who you railed on about.

Also, just for the opportunity to get yelled at while I ref I get to pay the TSSAA for that opportunity on top of the National license I already carry and take classes for, they are a money racket just like NCAA and they don’t give two craps about the kids and they have made that known with some of the decisions they have made through the years!
