District to State is an eternity

Go back and read my post. I never said that the state tournament has the top 8 teams.  In fact, I said they probably aren't eight best. I then went on to suggest that they are likely no worse than top ten.

Now you are backing out on your assertion that the 6th best team in your district could beat one of the lesser teams in the state. You now want to expand the population and say they are six teams in your region that could do it. I don't know your region. But I'm still not so sure about that. But I will give a slim possibility that a particular region could do it in a given year.

Finally, who beat whom in the past is irrelevant. It is tournament time. What is important is who you beat now; just like the NCAA tournament.  I'm sure there were plenty of teams last season, from strong conferences, who didn't get in the tournament but would have otherwise beaten Loyola-Chicago. But the Ramblers were the ones who made it to the Final Four.

Check out Region 7A- We demolished Clarkrange and Gibson County beat Summertown with ease. 4 more teams sitting in that region that played both the winning teams by single digits and didnt make it but are better than 5 maybe 6 of the teams that are here. We also had two of the Miss BBall finalists. Tomorrow will tell when we play Loretto.

Agree! Greenfield, GC, Peabody , TCA , Gleason and maybe Dresden are better than 5-6 of the other teams in Single A at state! Loretto would be the only one that “might” be able to compete with Region 7A.

You people are so sure of your teams. But nothing is certain come tournament time. Macon County was not a certain today. Riverdale was not a certain today. And it looks as if Loretto might be some competition in your "super"region.

What is all the fuss about?? District championship games in this area were on the 18th/19th of Feb. The State tournament started Wednesday. That's only 15 days between district championships  and the start of state. 15 days to play 4 games in between. That's seems plenty reasonable to me?

How about for starts, only District Tourney Winner and Runner-up move on to Region.  Why put in 3rd and 4th?  Too many.  Baseball, Softball, and Soccer does it that way.  I guess more money for T$$AA.

Wrong topic...sorry

    • I used to think like that many many moons ago.  I wondered the same questions but learned that it is just not that easy.  Hiring assistant coaches can be complicated at times.  It takes a few years for HC’s to get who they feel is right for their system.  Couple that with good assistant coaches getting better jobs at times and leaving your program. More to it than some think.  I think you have a good coach up there and time will tell that story.
    • okay.  Like i said initially, it's question we have to ask, but we sure don't know the answer yet.
    • You’re right, I shouldn’t jump the gun on it. Hopefully it isn’t related to the sports programs, because it’ll end up affecting a lot of innocent kids who just enjoy playing sports.
    • I totally agree but just don’t want to see people jumping the gun by insinuating it was for athletic reasons. Nobody knows at the moment except for those involved in the incident itself and those investigating.
    • Bruh, That portion of the post was simply a product of my imagination. Try to keep up.  The real purpose of the post was to rub salt in this fresh wound following FF’s departure to BGA.
