I want to know how they plan on paying for it. Serious question.

If you live in Sumner County I bet you will be paying for it. County doesn't mind helping schools build stadiums, weight rooms, etc for any school in Sumner Co. with the exclusion of GHS. Since they almost always have to pony up everything from the QB club.

No, I don’t think the school board puts up this money.  It is not in the budget.  Plus the school board would feel obligated to do the same for every school which would never happen.  This has to be a private donor or QB Club raising the money.   Until I hear specifics I think this is a want and not an actuality.

GHS should never consider turf. Their stadium is a great atmosphere as is. The grass turf is a better playing surface than turf.

At the $750000 cost, probably not gonna happen at Gallatin anytime soon.  Too many other stadium problems to get solved first.

No.  School systems are moving to turf for PR purposes as well as safety issues.  With a turf field, schools can work year round with their teams.  Junior Pro programs can also use it as a money driven attraction.  Makes since on a lot of fronts.

I've played on some turf fields. It's a little overrated. a quality grass playing surface is unrivaled. What serious college football school or NFL team uses turf. Very few. Now, turf would make sense ar Beech. The field has draining issues and the grass was never the best surface because of it

Oh I agree with you.  Beech is the one school in Sumner Co that needs a revamping of their field and turf could be the answer.  That field is a swampy mess at times.

Good for Beech. A few trips to Cookeville will draw some support and some funding as well. As for their neighbors in Gallatin, Yall may see that stadium as "tradition", but I see it as an 80 year old dump that may fall apart at any moment. Whoever said grass is better than turf has no clue what they are even talking about!

You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. Many more injuries on turf. Fact. Turf is not as kind to you during a hard fall. Fact. It has to be replaced every few years, which costs H*** of a lot more than upkeeping Grass. Fact.

Actually playing on it multiple times, I feel that I can have a good opinion of turf. By the way, you should call Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Ohio St., Michigan, Texas, UGA, and ask why they don't use turf. Because it sure as heck isn't because of a lack of $$$. But hey, Vandy has turf!!!

And that 80 year old dump has a ton of tradition, which even the rivals will say. It is nice going to watch a Game at GHS. You are right over top of the action with no track and the bleachers being right on top of the sidelines. & opposing fanbases can almost never "fill" our visitors stands (Which are larger than most team's Home side). But yeah, you keep enjoying these new style stadiums built out of aluminum beer cans, and can only hold a capacity of like 2k. Good for you.

Next.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
