Liberty in West TN used to be a great job. With the championships and the great players that came through, it was a place you could win. Now, looking for another coach, in AAA with little to no support from administration.

What the heck? I thought they just hired a new coach this year!!!

This is why the job is open.

I might add Steve Thompson to the list if he is interested. Has been out of it for a few years...one time assistant at Coffee Co 20 years ago. 7 state tournaments , 2 coach of the years and a 409-237 coaching record...plus he is used to having to play second fiddle behind other sports having coached in Mississippi.

The real "why the job is open" goes deeper. What this coach apparently did speaks for it's self, but why the job has been open so often since those titles were won speaks volumes to the lack of support from administration. They have gone from great coaching, and pick of talent from Jackson (magnet school), to "not many good coaches want to be there", just as in football.

A few years ago the JMCSS hired a superintendent that wreaked havoc on the district.

This happened: https://wnws.com/dr-june-murray-removed-as-principal-of-liberty-tech-high-school/

I don't know how long Murray had been there but I do know she was respected and she hired the football coach that brought them success. I know of a basketball coach that she tried to hire that would have been great.

In reality schools in Jackson should win everything in every sport outside of Memphis. However, they don't and haven't really ever.

You're correct, but that Director of Schools was a scapegoat too. BOE made the hire with intentions of mass drastic (and unpopular) decisions, then promptly made another change at the top.
