Glover was the best guard at the state tournament...period....I thought Murrell should have been more aggressive....looked out of sorts much of the game against Bearden...Bearden was really really good..people forget, they gave East a tough game last year when East was way more talented....

I don't think Murrell is a "take over a game" kind of player. He lets the game come to him and works within those confines. Thaddeus Young was similar. I don't think it's a coincidence. They both played for Faragi Philips.

Sounds like a role player...system type guy...what your describing...he doesn't have killer instinct at all.....he is very talented though....Someone needs to push that out of him...

He'll be a 5 star guard when it's all said and done. That killer instinct you talk about isn't really part of today's game.

I agree that in most high school teams players don't have that killer instinct to down right take over & win games. I'm talking about the star players & not the role or just good players. For instance, a James Wiseman type player. There are a select few & mostly not players from the state of Tennessee that do have that killer instinct. That either comes from the coaching they receive and/or their parent(s) have them living a life with that type of passion for the game.

Glover is a really good guard. He had a better tournament, no doubt. However, the best guard on the court was Murrell. He has the better upside and he's more athletic. Glover is a really good gurad who will probably get a scholly somewhere. Murrell will have his choice.

Murrell will grow into that role more and more. He's being molded into becoming a more dominant player. However, that's growth. That's not his natural bent, especially playing for Faragi Phillips. Everybody contributes on Faragi coached teams ... so there isn't a place for a 'dominant, killer instinct' type. That's why Faragi plays so many players during games ... his teams generally go 8 - 9 deep.

    • Will Trez remain 2A after the influx of another 2A school?
    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
