I'll do the West top 5:

1. Westview

2. Covington

3. Lexington

4. Chester County

5. Dyersburg

I have to disagree with 3 and 4. I dont think Lexington will be any better than they were this year. They lose #20 and #22 to graduation and transfer. Guard play will be weak outside of #23. Taylor will hold down her end as usual. CC loses the point but bring back 2 guards who arent what they have been hyped up to be. I think Dyersburg has a say so in 13AA and Covington SHOULD be back in 15AA. I am not counting out South Side, i think theyll fly under the radar with the two bigs returning and im sure they will bring in some good talent as they always do.

Covington and Westview will have the best chances in AA. Also don’t sleep on South Side either, I know they’ll lose a 2,000 point scorer, but they have a talented freshman that will be really good next year. I know the Westview/South Side matchups are great games, and I don’t expect Coach McNeal to have an average team next year and use Miller as the scapegoat, they’ll be good as well.

Macon returns everyone.... after reading their press clippings a little too early this year, they'll be poised for another big run...

Upperman was loaded with young talent and will benefit from a year of experience

Dekalb is my sleeper team to watch.... strong AAU summers have gotten this team to contender status.... remember, they lost one of their better players to an ACL around Christmas and still made it to M-Boro

Cumberland Co loses a ton but depending on where the good Crossville girls decide to prep, they should easily win their district

Don’t sleep on Meigs County.  I only saw them play once but I believe they started 5 sophomore and they could play...

Meigs should have a good team next year with all starters returning and a deeper bench. Game time coaching decisions seems to be their biggest issue.

I know Coach Powell pretty well, and take offence to your comment! I'd say he has done better then any coach in that district with the talent he has the last couple of years.

Meigs has a good team but there really not that deep. He will play 7 girls which all have started, against good competition.

The guy simply has a opinion. And most Meigs fans would agree, and most will disagree with your opinion. But everyone is entitled to one.

South Greene graduates four seniors, including Miss Basketball finalist, Braelyn Wykle. Next year's team will include no seniors. I'm not convinced that this year's younger players will have matured enough to make it to the state.

You can point to the 2016 Class A championship team when SG had no seniors, but that team included Taylor Lamb, Lindsay Cutshaw and Wykle.

There may be a player or two who will come in as Freshman and will make a difference next year. I hope so, but getting to the state is not an easy task. South Greene is more likely to make "state" when this year's sophomores are seniors.

I believe that next season's dominant team in the East will be Grainger. I've seen them play twice this year and they will be older and improved next season.

    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
    • McKenzie had no trouble with Huntingdon.
    • Has BA landed any cornfed cowboys to block up front?
    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
