He was a middle school coach there in Troy for a long time. I don't think the expectations match reality anymore. Coach Kail, thats right. you have to have players to win. They used to be a very tough team to beat in the 80s-90s. Whitby's teams pressed all over all the time, shot a bunch of 3s and played hard in general. But they pushed him out and have put some expectations that aren't realistic. They expect way too much for what they have.

School in a city with open enrollment where most of the best players are going to Jackson Southside and Jackson Northside. Plus it is a 3A school and District travel schedule is brutal with rewards of playing East or another Memphis 3A team if you make it to a Sub-State. 2 different coaches the last 2 years. etc... They have been winning for a long time. Went to region semifinals this year. went to state tournament a couple years ago. The inside on this job is more than likely the same as anywhere else. You win a lot of games when you have good players. It is a basketball school for sure. Lots of athletes.

Over the past 8 seasons, they're 149-91 62% Average 18.6 wins a season with 2 losing seasons. They play in a competitive district and region. There are athletes. I compare them to the North Mississippi schools. A lot of athletes but not a lot of discipline or coaching. I think this year's tournament showed that coaching can go a long way.
