You've got 'em pegged pretty well. I was (in general) speaking in terms of the relatively distant future, except for the current situation involving the HC. After next season, Southside should fall back to the pack some, and the pack should improve a little bit too, including Lexington. Past the next 3 or 4 years, Lexington's talent should be back to where they have traditionally been... maybe not the best in district, but good enough to compete to be among the top few, provided that the coaching is adequate. I too hope that the current coach is given his chance to succeed or fail on his own accord, and hiring a solid assistant would help.

You sound like you are very close to the Lexington Program. I have learned over time that coaches who get a head job for the first time usually are not ready. Sounds like the fan base may have some unrealistic expectations. If they give him 4 years and are still not where they should be then there is a problem. Also, a head coach is as good as the assistant coaches he surrounds himself with. One guy can't do it by himself. Time will tell my friend. I just can't wait to go watch some summer ball.

You are all on the HC. What did he do in 1 year? I looked at the record. He did the same thing that everybody else has done at Lexington over the past few decades with the exception of a few seasons. He finished 3rd in the tournament and lost first region game. Status Quo for the first year. Give him a chance.

You need to work on your reading comprehension skills. What part of myself hoping that he is given the chance to succeed or fail on his own, and thinking that hiring a solid assistant would help the situation causes you to conclude that I'm "all in on the HC"? Make some sense with a reply, please.

Fans not sold on 1st year head coach.

Current situation with the head coach.

Coach applying to other jobs.

I just see a lot of coach references in your post.

He been there as head coach for 1 year. come on!

Facts are facts whether I agree with them or not, I was asked a question, and was attempting to answer truthfully. For you to stretch that into me hammering on the coach is just you stirring an empty pot... where YOU at?

It's your story tell it like you wish, I'll stick by what I said, and the way I said it... I hope that the coach is given a fair shot, and that he is allowed to choose his assistant. That doesn't change the fact that he's applied for another job (his own admission), or that some strong supporters and alumni hope that he gets the other job. That's where I'm at.

Since I originated the thread and we didn't get back to the girls job openings.

I reached out to some people Close to the program and the word I am getting is that there are a few people not happy with the coach and they have a loud voice. This guy said the people not happy were not happy with playing time of some of the younger guys and not happy with how hard he coached the kids at times. This is always going to be an issue regardless of which program you talk about.

However, the guy I talked to said Coach Runyon told him he is not applied to any other jobs and that he actually bought a house right by the school to be closer to the gym. He said he will finish his coaching career in Lexington regardless of what that looks like.

Now... Can we get back to the thread about girls coaching jobs?

No problem... I just hate to be pigeonholed as a "coach hater" by someone who obviously doesn't know anything about me, and I took offense to it. Everything's quiet for the Lexington job, the only thing said about it was that the assistant coach was not interested. Usually the administration will "target" a few individuals via word of mouth or a third party, but mum is the word if they're fishing for anyone specific.

Mum is the word everywhere. Haven't heard any movement at all on the girls side or the boys side. You gotta think the these schools have got to make a move soon. It is almost May and summer practice starts in less than a month.
