Regardless of the scrimmage setup Coach Davis will be looking for toughness and effort. He will not be so concerned with mistakes scheme wise because he knows the kids are still learning. If they show good effort and toughness the wins will come this the fall.

After both teams got the cobwebs knocked off, it was a fairly even scrimmage. Defense found a few football players who played downhill and put on some good licks. Still working on breaking old habits on offense, but moved the ball when folks blocked the right people and backs hit the right holes. Ones against ones, I thought the Chargers may have had a slight edge. Still a long way to go and still evaluating depth. I hope this bunch will keep working and build on the team concept that Coach Davis and staff is emphasizing.

Varsity

Central 3

Hixson 1

JV

Central 0

Hixson 1

In a down and distance game like scrimmage it wouldn't have been close. Central might have been forced to punt 3 times. Hixson had 2 long runs and 1 long pass and that was it.

It will be a tough scrimmage in the fall because Hixson will have all their dudes back and starting QB. THAT will make them VERY hard to stop.

Hope they play a game like scrimmage. I love getting a real game in before season

I was wondering how it went. Good to hear got all summer lifting and when can start practicing it's going to amp up. Davis is big on the weight room too. Central won't be gassed in the 4th any game I can promise that. With Davis and his staff those boys will be in shape

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
