Oak Ridge 16 10 19 24 Meigs Co. 15 11 11 23 Upperman had bad luck in the 3rd qtr in their game too. It is Meigs vs Bees for 3rd place tomorrow at 4:30. Should be a good matchup. Meigs beat JC two times by 20+ earlier in the year, but they have improved, it just looked like Upperman couldn’t get going, and JC athleticism gave them problems. But tomorrow could be a preview of a sectional game later this year.

Americal198
I couldn't go to the games last night, but watched South Greene/Morristown West at 10:30 AM. Oak Ridge beat Jefferson County in the finals last year. Meigs and Upperman will play for third place. I'll be there tonight and expect to see some great basketball. There's only going to be one team awarded first place, but each of the final four teams are winners.

Americal198
Meigs County played well and proved to be a better team than I expected prior to the start of the tournament. It was a pleasure watching both Upperman and Meigs. Teams like these are what make this ladies tournament a yearly success. I thought Meigs stood a good chance of winning when a couple of key players for Upperman began to rack up fouls. Hurst took a spill right before halftime and went to the locker room. Had she not played in the second half, Meigs may have won. Upperman's post player, Johnson #44 freshman, fouled out with much time left on the clock. The real surprise for me was Jeff County. Oak Ridge came out to play once the second half started and held Jefferson to one field goal in the third quarter. Jefferson did make several free throws, but OR caught them. Jefferson managed to pull this one out with more foul shots and a few field goals. JC had four starters from last year's runner-up team that got clobbered by Oak Ridge in the finals of the 2018 Ladies Classic. It was good to see a different team win the tournament. All in all, it was a great tournament, made even greater by the large turnout of fans for the out-of-town teams who traveled good distances for yesterday's games. Stone fouled out with a couple minutes left in the 4th and that hurt Meigs in OT she is the leader of that team, she played almost every minute of every game despite being very sick, and it showed in this game, she only has 3 points in the game after averaging around 15 a game in this tournament, she is a baller. There’s a good chance Meigs and Upperman could meet again with a lot more at stake, those two teams are pretty evenly matched, both have two or three girls that can light it up, and a surrounding cast that are all solid players. Home court might determine the winer. I was also surprised in the Oak Ridge, JC game, I thought Oak Ridge would win handily, but I have to give credit to JC for coming out ready to play, I think they held Oak Ridge to 5 points in the first half, Oak couldn’t get anything to fall, I think I heard they were 2 for 24 at one point in the first half, but they battled back to make it a game. Americal198
Every game Jacelyn Stone played she was coughing. It's likely every team had players who were sick. South Greene's post player missed the Meigs game as well as one sometimes starter—who missed the first two games. Reagan Hurst guarding Stone had a lot to do with her being off of her game. The reason there was an overtime, in my opinion, was Levy missing that layup at the end of the game. I bet she remembers that one for a while. I agree that the two teams could meet in the future and that they are pretty even. The consolation game (3d place) is the one that I wanted to see and was not disappointed. Yes, Oak Ridge scored 5 points in the first half. Score was 19-5. I told someone that, if Jeff County could hold them to 30 points or less they had a chance to win. For a while, I thought JC might not score 30! It was a tale of two halves. Anyway, your coach will come up with a game plan, if there is another meeting with Upperman and that plan should include Reagan Hurst. Both teams were fun to watch. When a person hears about good teams from different parts of the state, it's nice to be able to take a short drive to see them.
