Does anyone know when the high school will be having summer workouts?

Or the status of when a middle school coach will be hired?

Or when more coaches will be hired at the high school to help?

I hope they know not to wait until school starts back to do this.  If the administration doesn’t open their eyes and do something soon then the program is going to be in trouble.  They need to get rid of the AD (they should have done this weeks ago).  Then someone needs to tell the head coach what is expected of him and if he can’t do that then he needs to go back to his other line of work.

I agree the AD NEEDS to go if he is doing what people say he is doing. Parents need to express their opinion on this issue.

what has the AD done that is so bad?  Not that familiar with the situation.

Just hear grumbling from people in that area that he needs to leave the program and let the coaches do their job. No dog in race was just wondering actually myself, I know its not good what they are saying.

For one the AD likes to cause drama and has his little soldiers to help spread his lies.  This only causes problems within the athletic programs and the kids are the ones who end up suffering.  Again, the KIDS are the ones that suffer.

Yes, people in the area are grumbling—just not loud enough yet.

The parents, players, and the community need to voice their concerns loud enough so the right people can hear them.

I agree people forget that sports in high school are for the kids, in small schools kids need sports and things like that keep kids from playing. People in power like the AD should not use it for their own agenda or to look important, should be in it for the kids. That's just my opinion again I have no dog in the race I just know there are a whole lot of good people that live on the mountain and deserve a adult who has their kids best interest in mind.

Yes, you are spot on.  The kids in the area need sports, but usually quit playing because of small town politics. These small town politicians (the AD) like to run around and feel powerful probably because they are missing something in other areas of their life.

The AD needs to go play in the dirt back at his playground at his house and take his buddies with him — especially if they are in it for the power or the money and not in it 100% for the kids — your actions speak louder than your words.

How does the middle school program work?  Is it a community team from multiple k-8 schools?  I've asked the HS Coach and the GCBE but nobody will or can answer the questions about the job.

The middle school program is made up of 6-8 graders that are in the area elementary schools.  The middle school program plays at the high school.

Hopefully the HS Head Coach will get back with you soon.

Not heard or read anything about Grundy, have they got rid of the AD yet? Or has he stepped down and done the right thing?

    • When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville  the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
    • I get all that.  And I agree too.  However, if the coach is only there to coach that would give them more time to do those things. The school system and booster clubs combine and pay them.
    • 3 sides to every story….Someone getting kicked off for saying the F word then it seems maybe your star player? Probably was the last straw.
