I don’t think the other teams had a D-1 player injured.

He may have very well been the difference in the semis last year. He is a good ballplayer.

We’re not in the top 4  this year maybe bye playoffs we might get to where we can compete with the top 4.

This comment above isn't close to being accurate. You know as well as the rest of us that Greenback is EASILY one of the top 4 teams in 1A. You boys continue to get multiple new editions that continually help elevate you to elite status.

Greenback/Oliver Springs tie

This comment is funny as well. You also know that you boys are top 4. South Pittsburg and Greenback will be close in the east followed by Lake County and Huntingdon in the west. Those are the teams to beat. Greenback has TWO division 1 football players that will be seniors. When does that EVER happen at the 1A level? South Pittsburg should have a good team, but Greenback is the ONLY team in 1A with several D1 players. If you get this other stud that you boys are after from Blount County you will be even more superior.  Can SP play with Greenback in 2019? Yes, I believe they can. However, the amount of transfers that Greenback has landed lately, plus the TWO D1 players to go with a line that looks like a small college line again make you the team to beat. It's hard to be the team to beat when you haven't been to Cookeville in 6 years or won a gold ball in 9 years.

Greenback/Oliver Springs tie, I find that hard to believe.

It's bunch of BS is what that is. Greenback will easily handle Oliver Springs this season. They have gained several elite players during the off season to go along with a solid returning nucleus that features TWO division 1 football players on the same 1A team. That makes a huge difference at this level.

    • I think they will find a good back, maybe not a Dozier, but I think one that can do the job. Same way with the receivers. I think Coach Rang is an excellent judge of talent from what I have seen and he will put the best players on the field.  As for the indoor facility, I hope there are plans down the road, I know in the new world of wide open recruiting, facilities matter. I was very glad to see the nice updates to the track facilities by the way, track has always been a big part of ORHS Athletics, as the poster said, going back to the track championships in the 50s and 60s, A lot of football players run track and it helps them become faster and quicker in the fall.
    • Yea, they have Davey quaking in his boots. Someday they'll even have a winning season.
    • Guessing this may have been the closest I can think of...... Bill Harlow: (from wiki) After leaving OSU, Harlow went on to win three national titles in freestyle wrestling.  He won a silver medal at the 1970 World Wrestling Championships, falling to Soviet Gennady Strakhov in the finals at 90 kg.
    • The Simpson brothers had good freestyle careers.
