2019 Rockvale Rockets Inaugural Season

How are they doing the enrollment at Rockvale?  Do you have to go if your a senior/junior or is it an option to leave your former school?  I remember playing Stewart’s Creek early in their first couple of seasons and they had a ton of underclassmen and very very few seniors.  That in itself could be an indication of how well Rockvale will do early on.  I think Gallatin will be their first true scrimmage of the fall.

I read where they have 110 on their roster. Mostly freshmen and sophomores.

Question: There used to be a Rockvale High School about 45 years ago that was consolidated into Riverdale. Was the old Rockvale the Rockets? Will the new school retain the original Rockvale History?

Yes rebels. They are trying to collect articles and artifacts from the past now. Trying to rebuild the traditions.

I figure they will smoke LaVergne because Rice has a reputation for running a disciplined program.  LaVergne has a reputation of being an undisciplined ZOO!

Not having seen any of the other teams they will play, I will go out on a limb and say at least a 5-5 season, with a chance of being 7-3.

If they go 5-5, Rice should be COY. It's really hard to be competitive in Year 1. So many variables to account for. Even with a favor schedule 3-4 wins would be a good season

Coach Rice is a great guy but is finishing in the Top 4 of your region (is that not what it takes to qualify for the playoffs?) really having a good season?  Just asking because I remember when you had to win your district to advance to the playoffs.

Yes, that's what it takes to qualify. For the first 3-4 years, I think making the playoffs should be considered a good season for Rockvale. Siegel didn't even make the playoffs until Year 6, didn't win a playoff game until it's 9th season. Stewarts Creek didn't make the playoffs until Year 4 and still hasn't won a playoff game in 6 seasons. Blackman fared alot better, but they basically got the Riverdale JV team when Rankin essentially owned RuCo.

If Rockvale is anything like Siegel and Stewarts Creek, they'll struggle to win games the first 2 seasons and take a leap forward in Year 3

Interesting question and I will try and answer.  I think that is Rockvale School, a K-12 back then and I believe they were (and still are) The Rockets.... After Riverdale opened, original school was K-8 until the Rockvale Middle School opened.   I believe the original Rockville will remain as a K-6 school.   David Price played baseball as a middle school player at Rockvale.
