Glad to see that old rivalry renewed week 1. Should be a decent ballgame! Three way race for that Lebanon region this year between them, Mt Juliet, and Hendersonville in my opinion.

Good long rivalry and two young coaches with something to prove.  This could be a very intense hard hitting ball game and definitely a good opener for both.

Looks like Gallatin doesn't have anything cupcake left on the plate for a while. Got CPA, a good Shelbyville team & ofcourse 6a champ Oakland. & looks like Lebanon could definitely pose a big threat week 1.

And that is a good thing in my opinion.  They need some tough competition to see where they are at.  Those younger guys need the reps and the kinks in this new offense have got to be worked out.  Gallatin has a chance to be pretty good but I want to see them against these types of teams to see what they really have.  Discipline and defense seem really good at this point.  Maybe the ole Wave can surprise some people this year.

This is true, hard to know where youre at until you play the best. Surely with the talent pool out there in Gallatin, they can get back to the old ways sooner than later. Also the players should not get discouraged if results don’t go their way in the preseason, they need to trust the process. A good overall team attitude/psych goes a long way with developing chemistry.

They looked really good GWAVE1.. their junior RB couldn’t be tackled and their first team defense gave up negative yards on the day to both cookeville and east Hamilton. Not sure what to make of them based on the level of competition, but I was impressed nonetheless. Looked improved from last year for sure

Thanks for this report VU365. Will you be going to the scrimmage at Smyrna on Tuesday? Would love to read your thoughts on that one as well.

Very likely that I’m there tomorrow checking out big Smyrna D-Lineman. Was in cookeville to see east Hamilton who has a D1 caliber kicker. And a stud LB from Lebanon named Daniel Davila. One of the most underrated players in the state

Lol three way race as in Mount Juliet is on the same playing field as those teams? Lebanon that hasn’t beat us in 10 years?

If I recall correctly they forced 5 turnovers last year in a very tight ballgame @ MJ. And that was a much more talented MJ squad than this years. Lebanon has also improved from last year on both sides of the ball, and the game is at there place this year. Definitely could be a close one. I think coach Perry would say the same thing. Gonna be a 3 headed monster in that region for 1st. And that’s not a knock on MJ, but a testament to what Gentry has going on in Lebanon in just 3 years. They were solid last year and have a better squad now. I’m eager to see all three of y’all play each other. Hendersonville should be good as well. I think MJ still is the best in the region in the trenches, and they have possibly the best WR in the region. But the gap is closer than it’s been in years. The Lebanon RB I saw is the real deal

FLUKE GAME, of course a pro-Lebanon supporter will look at last years game with an optimistic approach about how close it was and forcing the turnovers. However All I remember from that game was a bunch of blown red zone opportunities and terrible ball handling skills from MJ. High school athletes will choke at times remember they are just kids. 9 times out of ten that game was a blowout. Hence Lebanon’s performance against Blackman, the same Blackman team we manhandled. Trust me I don’t mind Lebanon having some success I mean shoot it’s been 10 years since they beat their in county rival. I feel for them.

Well I’m not a pro-lebanon supporter so that argument is invalid. Anyone who follows that region knows it was a genuinely close game. 14-10 and if it wasn’t for Marcelo Walton taking over then it would have been a loss. Lebanon’s defense was impressive. MJ’s was even more impressive. Calling that game a fluke game is the same as an Oakland fan calling the playoff game with MJ a fluke and saying they would have blown you out 9 times out of 10. I have a lot more ties to coach Perry and MJ than I do Lebanon. But I have to respect where they are as a program vs how bad they used to be. 8-2 regular season last year and right back in the hunt this year for that region. Same with MJ who lost a lot and is right back in the hunt for a region title. If you can’t see the improvement in Lebanon from when that new staff started then I don’t know what to tell you.

When did I say there is no improvement at Lebanon? I stand by my comment, that game was definitely fluked. Bad luck but what does it matter a win is a win. 10 years in a row vs WC and Lebanon. Anyways TP somehow has the boys in the mix again for a region title like you said, even after losing most of our playmakers from last season. It’s just simply a reload not a rebuild. That’s what great coaching staffs do with the talent they have. MANY COACHES SHOULD TAKE LESSONS ON THAT.
