Best kicker in the region has to be McNairy's John Droke. Already 11 for 11 PATs, 2 for 2 FGs with long of 36 and 5 touchbacks. Averaging 58 yards per kick on kickoffs. Somebody needs to take a look at this kid!!

Westview’s kicker is pretty dang good too. JT Carver and is only a sophomore. His kickoffs always go into back of endzone and he is perfect from PATs and FGs

The Memphis Commercial Appeal has picked Covington to repeat as Champions of Region 7-3A. Their ranking for the regions looks like this:

Region 7-3A

1. Covington

2. Milan

3. McNairy

4. South Gibson

5. Westview

6. Bolivar

As a Covington fan, I realize that we have lost a lot of talent from the team that won the 3A Silver Ball last year, but I do see that we return 20 seniors (per the roster on Max__Preps).  And the paper  did mention some of our returning players:

Can Covington's Marcus Hayes win Mr. Football?

Hayes was a Mr. Football semifinalist in Class 3A last year as a sophomore and helped lead the Chargers to their second consecutive appearance in the state title game. Will the Chargers be back for a third time? Covington returns all-state selections in Hayes and linebackers Caleb Winfrey and Lareko Burton.

Well #5 beat #3 and #4 beat #2 tonight

Covington will not lose a region game this year either it appears. They are head and shoulders above every 3A team in west Tennessee.

I hope that you are correct, but I’m not taking anything for granted. I will say that the Covington defense is playing very well this year. Our offense is getting scores, but the D is getting stops and turnovers to give us extra opportunities.

The defense is absolutely our unit this year! Especially that linebacker Corp.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
