Lebanon at Gallatin

An old rivalry gets renewed Friday night after a brief break. Both teams come into 2019 looking to build off of last year.

Gallatin had its ups and downs in 2018 and hope to be improved this season. The word is that they have looked better this summer.

Lebanon is coming in off one of their best seasons in a long time going 8-3 last year. But they graduated some very good players in key positions namely a Quarterback now at Ball State and a Lineman now at Georgia. They will rely on the running back on offense and may not be as good defensively as they were last year but still should be solid.

I know this series goes back but this site only goes to 2001. But Gallatin has won 11 of the 12 meetings since that point. These teams haven't played in a couple seasons so we will find out if things have changed come Friday night. Either way I expect it to be a low scoring slobber knocker.

Gentry has done a solid job at rebuilding Lebanon.  They have a renewed spirit across the river.  Gallatin is undergoing a similar process.   Excitement has built for Chad Watson’s debut.  Should be a huge crowd between these long time rivals.   

I have been hearing about Lebanon’s strong running game and their defense seems to be solid again.

They should be good upfront on both sides of the ball as they got some college prospects there again. On defense they have a good experienced secondary but lost most of what was a really good group of linebackers. On offense they have a 1,000-yard back coming back who put on 25-30 pounds in the offseason and will be handful. They also have some other really good athletes returning at wide receiver.

My biggest question mark for them is the Quarterback. Ive seen him play in a backup role the last two seasons in several games and whenever he came in the offense went nowhere. So he is gonna have to be much improved or else teams will be able to just load up against the run.

This has the making of a very good ball game. Both have a strong running game and both have a good defense.  

How is the kicking game for Lebanon?

Sources tell me Gallatin wins the game despite being at a disadvantage because they are....well they are Gallatin

We'll see who had the disadvantages after the game. Very interested to see where all of Gallatin's disadvantages are.

The hype for this game makes it feel like we are back in the late 80’s and early 90’s when this game was at its peak...

 

 

I’m going with the Big Blue...just because!!

 

Either way Its great to see both teams rejuvenated!
