I agree. Oakland is the place to be since Coach K. Creasy has been there. 'Boro people still like to act like they are the SEC of TSSAA football, but the truth is it's more like when Maryville was in that old Z-Plan District (or was it a Region) with 6A and 5A schools. It was the Snow White Conference. Oakland is Snow White and all the others are the Dwarfs.

Couldn't agree more, it's more like the ACC where 1 team Lord's over the rest of the conference. There was a time when RuCo was strong county wide, but those days are gone. Creasy gets alot of credit ( as he should), but McDaniel set the table for him to thrive going forward

True but it's hard to replace the kind of talent they lost in one offseason

And with the talent they had last year. BM played two teams that went past the 2nd rd of the playoffs. BM lost to both and only scored 14 points in each game.

Of the teams Blackman beat, Cvill lost by 35 in rd 1, Leb lost by 35 in rd  1, Riverdale lost by 9 to another team that BM beat, Hendersonville which lost in the 2nd rd by 28 points and Smyrna which lost by 19  pts in the 1st rd.

Don't know if that means anything but its interesting.

You're gonna have to start using BHS since Blackman is one word. When I see BM, I think of one of @BarneySox2007 jokes. :roflol:

By no means we're they superior but when you start to take that kind of talent for granted, it can hurt. I can see a scenario where they finish 3rd or 4th. They have a really difficult schedule, even in the best of years. Talent-wise, there isn't much difference bewteen Oakland and Blackman

I've seen Oakland in person last year. What can you tell me about Blackman? How do they compare to Oakland?  Offense style, Defense scheme etc?

Offensively they're night and day. Haven't seen them this year but last yr they were strictly Spread No Huddle. Defensively, they're gonna go with 3-4 or 50. I feel like they rely more on their athletes to just go out there and make plays, where Oakland is just gonna bring more guys than you can block.

Blackman did get 2 WR transfers and they return their QB so I imagine they'll be airing it out. Not really sure what they got at TB since their leading returning rusher transferred to Oakland. They have a kid in the secondary getting SEC offers, although not sure it's gonna mean as much playing a run- heavy team like Alcoa

In college terms, Blackman tries to play like Oregon did under Chip Kelly. They're gonna tries to wear you down with their depth but having sustained drives is gonna be key. Their HC played under Rankin so he'll know better than most what to expect

Great breakdown! Thanks so much. I heard they got a pretty high profile transfer in. wasn't sure what position. didn't know about the rb going to Oakland.

For a 3A team our depth is pretty good. We have some very talented athletes, but I think what sets us apart is how physical we are at the LOS. some teams try some exotic things, shifts, slants, run blitz etc to counter our run game. going to be very exciting for sure.

With our tough non region schedule, Alcoa should be very ready come playoff time.

This is just me guessing but that 3-4 defence could get Alcoa in deep trouble against a larger 6A team that has some big boy's. I saw how well WB and Heritage did against it in the jamboree. If someone had told me before that game Alcoa got a package deal with a coach and son combo I would have thought Sal Sunseri and one of his boy's had come to town. Gary what are you thinking, remember how Sal brought that garbage to Tennessee and set the program back into the stone ages. Get your head on right and quit messing with perfect.

I am certainly not a fan of the 3-4 but I trust Nix to know his talent and adjust accordingly. I will not judge any kind of junk jamboree performance as Rankin and staff put nothing in it. I am certain the 3-4 did not employ all the stunts and slant combinations that turn big OL into frozen statues. Whereas a big OL may have its way at first, their effectiveness wanes fast as they quickly wear down and are incapable of matching the speed and uncertainty of stunt packages.  And let’s face it, most huge high school OLs have a couple of hogs that are not in great shape compounding the issue further. Have faith in General Nix! Go Naders!

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
