Covington @ Bolivar - 9/6/19

Covington is on the road at Bolivar Central for game three, to open play for the Chargers in Region 7-3A. Covington should be a heavy favorite. Looking at schedules over the last 25 years, the teams have only met 4 times. Covington won all four, with these scores:

2015 34-7

2016 34-7

2017 47-20

2018 35-7

Sonny_Moore shows Covington to be favored this year by 31 points. Now, that's on paper, and they don't play these games on paper. However, having seen the 2019 Covington defense in two games so far, they are really strong. The offense has had a couple of blips, but I think they will do OK this week.

Covington with a running clock. Bolivar is awful this year.

You are right. I mis-read the score in the book I was using. That was Bolivar winning 34-7 in 2016. So, Covington is 3-1 versus Bolivar. Sorry for the mistake.

Very good vs. very bad. Bolivar has played two games without scoring... this will make it three. Covington names their score.

Bolivar has been shutout by Freedom Prep and Kirby in the 1st two weeks. This game will get ugly.

The basketball games between these two later on in this school year will be worth seeing...this football game, not so much...Bolivar is horrible

Not a bad drive to Bolivar from my house. It's farther from Covington there, but I'm in nearly in Fayette County, so I'm much closer. 

This is a nice road trip with a stop in Whiteville for supper.

Completely agree. Bolivar is the only team in the region that does not stand a chance to win in. The other 5 are going to slug it out for a spot in the playoffs all season long.

What’s the story on Bolivar? Is their poor performance so far this year a lack of talent, coaching issue, or what? How about some input from Bolivar Fans?

Bolivar has some really good looking athletes. Friend of mine that is from Bolivar told me " it is all coaching "

Do not have any first hand info just passing what was told to me.
