So let me get this straight the margin for error from #2 Beech and #8 Henry County is as thin as a missed chip shot FG on Beech’s home field? I’m not buying that. So how thin is the difference between 2 and 3. How could it be any closer?

That, and we gave them 7 points on kick return, and 3 before the half when our punter received the 4th down snap on one knee to give them a short field. We dominated every statistical category of that game. But we didn’t make the plays when we needed to and Beech did, so they deserved the W.

The only part Beech won was Special Teams and on the scoreboard. HC dominated the offensive and defensive lines. Beech had no run game. HC had an outstanding run game. Beech's defense wasnt the best I have ever seen. HC defense was solid and stout all night. Ask Beech, they are very very lucky to leave with a win. That's just straight up facts!

A lot of what ifs and could have beens... HC outplayed Beech but good teams find a way to win. I expect both of these teams to get better as the season goes, as they both seem to every year. I haven’t seen the East TN teams play, but I believe there are several ranked in the top 10 that would be 3rd or 4th in Region 6 and would be an underdog to that “0-2” HC team.

I'm curious to who you thing in the top 10 from East, TN that would finish 3rd or 4th in Region 6 when you haven't even seen them play this year?

Can’t argue with any of these. Can someone link the actual AP poll? I guess I’m old and suck at the internet because I can’t seem to find it.

Knox County has owned 5A since 2016, the last year of the "Super 32".

2016 Farragut

2017 Catholic

2018 Central

and it's been a dogfight to see who makes it out of the bracket. Last year Central, Catholic, Oak Ridge*, Fulton, and West were good enough to win it all.

*Anderson County

I 100% agree with you thats why I asked what several teams he thought in the top 10 would finish 3rd in Region 6. Out of East TN you have Central, Powell, Knox West, South Doyle, and David Crockett that have a legit chance of making the  5a Final depending on who shows up on a given night.

    • Will Trez remain 2A after the influx of another 2A school?
    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
