Martin Westview @ Covington

Just read this article in the Covington Leader. It talks about how social media motivated Covington against the Martin Westview team last week. Apparently stuff that you post on this website and other places can have an effect.  IMHO it's never a good idea to give the other guys bulletin board material.

The article says in part:

"There was a lot of pregame chatter on social media making predictions about last Friday’s match up of two of the state’s top-ranked Class 3A teams: the second-ranked Covington Chargers and the eighth-ranked Martin Westview Chargers. 

Most of it centered around ending Covington’s reign in Region 7-5A and filling up a bushel basket of points on the Covington defense.

It may not be best to come into someone’s yard barking too loudly unless you bring some bite to go with it."

Covington better enjoy it while it lasts. Next year Westview and their stud coach will run all over everyone in the region.

Don't think it was any actual Westview Charger fans or Players doing any barking if you read back through this tread.

I may be wrong, but I think covington is pretty young. I know their best RB is only a JR and they have 2 right behind him that are a freshman and sophomore. If I was a betting man, I would bet my money on Covington again next year. If there was a year to get them, it was supposed to be this year and we see what has happened so far.....

No. I am posting this cause I think his comment was funny. I respect McConnell and what he has done in his career and what he is currently doing at Westview. But he will never run over everyone in this region. During his career he has struggled against physical teams that attack at the line of scrimmage much like Covington did last week. This is the toughest region in the state in 3A and he will be in for a dog fight week in and out. I fully believe he will bring Westview back to a competitive level and will have them challenge some years for the region title if he stays. But to say “their stud coach will have them run over” everyone in this region is hilarious!!!
