Pretty much works that way at every school, doesn’t it? My point is that I don’t see the athletes standing on the sidelines at Clinton right now.

By by the way, all you “guru’s” :roflol:saying this style of offense doesn’t work at this level, Creasy still runs a ton of WingT at Oakland. I believe the record shows he won the 6A title last year.

It's a matter of talent and athletes. Some offensive styles fit some athletes better than others. Cleveland ran the wing t when they won three titles in a row but it frankly wouldn't have mattered what they ran on offense because they had overwhelming talent. From what I've seen of Clinton, the wing t isn't their problem and it isn't a bad offense for their personnel.

Clinton had good athletes last year and the year previous to that but didn't pull any upsets or beat anybody they shouldn't have beat. They don't have the athletes this year and they aren't performing or executing the offense on a high level at all. You would expect to see improvement in a system offense like the WingT after 3 years. The kids have clearly not bought into him, the offense or his coaching style. and the fact multiple people from schools they have played said the HC and coaches are yelling and screaming at each other mean it's the same with the coaches

You’ve gone Bonkers, man! Sorry, couldn’t pass that name up. You guys will know better than me if you follow Clinton every week. I saw 1 game and shared what I thought about it on the Halls thread. I know what Randy can do and did with our program. We were a doormat and he built the program, facilities, etc over the years. And it took him longer than 2 1/2 seasons to do it. Good luck to the Dragons and fans. Looks like there’s some coming together that needs to happen.

*edit: Bonkers comment was a joke

Opie what I would do is go straight to the coach and ask him what the problems that are keeping Clinton from getting better. I do know he is a decent coach but kind of hard to understand sometimes. I had a nephew that played for him at GCA and I didn't agree with everything he done but I did support him during that time. His personal life put a lot on his plate most coaches could have not come back from and I would have been the last person to give him any more during that very hard time in his life.  He is a good X's and O's coach but Clinton may not have the crop of kids coming through to just turn things around overnight. He is a hometown product of Clinton and I'm sure he feels it the worse.

Hollingsworth has gotten serious about facilities. Lets see how serious he is about coaches.

What exactly do you mean?  This isn't exactly college football, where you can "find your guy and pony up the dollars."  To be totally honest, the job isn't all that attractive.  Fire Catlett, pushed Kerr out, fire native son McKamey after only 3 years.  Outside looking in, not many coaches want to go to a program with only 3 winning seasons in 20 years and a seemingly dysfunctional administration that fires coaches without going all in to build a program with him.

Questions is does Admin want to be successful? It looks like a strong fan base wants someone in there that can change it around quickly. That can be good and bad.

Also, why would Ellison be the Front-Runner? Was he not the interim at one point? Also, Head Coach at Powell for a few years? It seems he was unsuccessful at Powell

Same thing at Karns?  I think he took over Powell which was a mess and Karns, well it's Karns.

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
