Home run hire or not it isn’t gonna matter unless we can magically find some athletes to roll into town that can actually play some football.

I saw 3 Clinton games on film this year.  In all 3 Clinton had at least as much talent as the opponent... They lost 2 of those games.  There has been much more talent there in the past, and stopping the bleeding to the neighboring school is JOB #1 for whoever they hire!  This year's team had the talent to win/compete against more than half the schedule.

I highly disagree on the talent. We won two games all season against bad teams that we usually beat every year. If your telling me we should beat teams like Powell, West, AC, Fulton, OR, it’s just not gonna ever happen for a very long time. Fact is we just don’t have many athletes in the school right now  that you can win with.

Clearly you don't read... I said HALF THE SCHEDULE...  You can highly disagree, but it is a fact that Clinton was at least AS TALENTED as Campbell County, Halls, and CAK because I saw those games.  Add in Karns and the worst they SHOULD HAVE (I know not worth much) was 4-6.  No they're not on the level of the teams you referenced, but to get to the top, a team has to consistently beat the bottom and middle of their region.

I can agree with that on the teams you just mentioned. I consider those programs very average. Bottom line is though until we get in a different region, we won’t be seeing the playoffs for awhile.

Looks like the Dragons have some talent.  Congratulations to them. This is from the WYSH web site.

Taking a look first at the All Region 3-5A , several Clinton Dragons made the grade despite a disappointing 2-8 season. They are: Evan Winchester, Bryce Collins, Trevor Linderman, Will Briggs, Connor Moody, and Gavin Bolinger. Collins was recognized as the Region’s Punter of the Year, as well. Trace Thackerson, Blake Cooper and Edwin Resendiz received Honorable Mention accolades. Briggs and Garrett Long were also recognized for their performances in the classroom.

Each coach picks what kids make "All-Region" on their own team.  This is not a real award in Tennessee.  Have you never thought it was odd that there are 7 all region quarterbacks in a region with 7 teams?

Clinton High School could be a great job.  They recently constructed a new football complex with an indoor practice field.  There is strong community support and a solid alumni base.  They have a history of producing college players even in the lean years.    Dr Tipton is a great principal that supports both academics and athletics.  The city is ready to move forward with stadium renovations if a new stadium is not built.  The biggest thing the new coach will need to do is generate excitement and keep the kids zoned for Clinton in Clinton. Winning a few games cures a lot.  If the TSSAA drops to 5 classes that will help too. They are in a tough region but good coaches want to play tough competition.  Clinton was undefeated in 2009 and most likely could have won the state if their star running back and linebacker Weston Hazelhurst had not gotten hurt.  The stadium was packed and the fans traveled well.  The 2019 team finished with two solid wins.  The Thackerson kid took over mid season and showed improvement playing quarterback each game.  Mckamey laid a foundation that can be built on.  Moreover, Clinton is a great place to live and raise a family.

New stadium? What the city plan in doing

The school wants a stadium on campus, where the practice field is. There were some concepts and mock ups. But last I heard they were having trouble with the city about it. I don't know if a stadium will fit where they want to put it but they have top men to figure that out.

Having said that, the school did get approval to move the softball field to on campus and the band is getting a paved practice field so there are things happening.

Just curious as a Maryville fan that has been to see many games in the past at Clinton. There was a small away side to set on forcing many of us to set on the Clinton side during those years. A few years later I go there to watch a jamboree in 2015 and Clinton had built new seating on the visitor side and moved that to their home side. Anyways I watched the game from the old home side which I didn't see any issues with. I'm just curious I guess what the problems are with what they have or is there more issues than I know about. Great place where the field is at in my opinion.

I love the location of the field. We need to do some work to the locker rooms there but that’s about it. I think we have a neat setup already stadium wise.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
