So, is Humboldt down this year not mentioned in top six (6)  & has won regional tournament or runner-up in the last ten (10) years?

Gonna be a rebuilding year for the Vikings. I actually see the Lady Vikings being the best basketball team in the school this year.

Ok, but with Humboldt being in a rebuilding year, you don't think they will be in the top six (6) in region with their defense & athleticism alone, I would say, " at least  top six (6)". I guess we will see soon enough but somehow they always find new players to step up because I cant remember  the last time Humboldt had a losing season in Basketball in the last thirty (30) years. In 1985, Humboldt started out 1-11 but  turned it around & made it to sub state. So, rebuilding for Humboldt can still equal a good season.

The Lady Vikings should be good if they improved over the summer with their guards, they have the inside game but still need for the guards to step up and cut down on unforced turnovers. If, that happens I can see them having a great year, inside post will be unstoppable if we can get the ball to them.

Well, the Vikings have lost Two (2) close games this past week to liberty Tech & Sacred Heart & will play Greenfield this Saturday at the Martin classic. So, we will see how they do against Greenfield since you have them in the top six (6) in Region 7A.

Lake Co. could be the surprise team in 7A this year. Some good players returning, led by Jaramiah Polk. Longtime girls coach Bret Johnson is back on the sidelines with the boys team, most of which do not play football so won't have much of the "sport transition."

Well, Humboldt played Greenfield & won 76-59 so I guess Greenfield is the one in the rebuilding year (JUST JOKING) but I knew Humboldt would at least be in the top six (6) in Region 7A.

So far, Humboldt is 3-3 with only two (2) seniors on team with one (1) starting! Humboldt had the opportunity to win all the games that they lost against  2A schools but will only get better. I predicted Humboldt would lose about eight (8) games but be ready for tournament time with a young team! Coach Abernathy is doing a great job working with this young team & hopefully continue to get better!

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
