Gallatin vs Hendersonville

My take on Hville this year and the game with the Wave.

i was very concerned going into the season.  After losing 6 of the front 7 on D and the entire starting O Line with most of those being 2 and 3 year starters and coupling that with an extremely tough schedule.  Out of region games with the #1 team in the state in 6A in Oakland, a very good Indy team, and in my opinion the 2 best 5A teams in the state in Beech and Gallatin.  A lot of teams talk about playing a tough schedule but it’s all talk.  We actually went out and did it and excluding the Oakland game have played well in spots.  I believe our coaching staff has done a good job developing those young and inexperienced players and have had a good plan every week.  As far as Gallatin goes you can attribute their success to 2 things.  New coaching staff and their tremendous improvement on the O and D lines.  Briggs is the likely Mr football winner and when you watch them on film you see the tremendous job they do up front despite teams stacking 9 and 10 guys in the box.  On D it starts with their D line keeping blockers off the LB’s and allowing them to make plays.  They have elite speed on D which allows them to make up for any errors they make.  Nobody has moved the ball against them consistently all year, nobody.  For us to be competitive Friday we cannot not allow any home runs to Briggs or Banks and need to control the ball. Always look forward to going to the Waveyard as we are always treated well by Principal Becker and the administration at GHS.  Added bonus and the best thing is that I get to see my 6 month old granddaughter at the game.

Your last sentence definitely makes it worth it!!
Hendersonville has played a grueling schedule and could easily be 6-1.  They are a good football team and very dangerous.  They have 2 guys that can make things very difficult on the defense.  Chandler has done about everything they have asked in that offense.  I expect per typical of Hendersonville, a lot of tough hard nosed linemen that know their assignments well.

1 more thing I should have mentioned. Sorry to hear about the passing of longtime Beech BB coach Boots Scott. He meant a lot to a lot of people. I first met him back in the day when his son Billy played youth baseball.  Every conversation we had was always entertaining.  Good man, RIP Coach.

You obviously did not listen to the podcast last night.

Obviously. I would also assume the podcast was with the coaches, not the 22 players on the field. I can tell you, a lot of fans and students for Gallatin and Beech are looking ahead, and understandably. The difference is Beech plays a bad SC team and Gallatin plays a pretty good Hendersonville bunch.

If Gallatin gets beat Friday night, it is not because they were looking ahead, it will be because Hendersonville played a better game than Gallatin.  Hendersonville and Beech have been circled long before the season began.

No matter the outcome, Beech and Gallatin will still meet for the region title.

It’s easy to say GWAVE, but we have to remember they’re 15-18 year old kids.  I would be just as concerned if it were Beech in that same situation.  I’ve seen it too many times...

I know what your saying.  I just think the coaches have their attention.  We all know Hendersonville can be laid back coming into this game.  They are the underdogs and all the pressure is on Gallatin.  They have not been scored on in 4 games and they are undefeated.  Both goals I am sure Hendersonville wants to achieve.  I personally do not see how you can keep Hendersonville from scoring.  I just hope they do not score too often and Gallatin can score more.

8-0 or 7-1 it still does not matter.  Gallatin and Beech will still face each other in the biggest game of the year for the region title.

I’m so torn... I don’t like Hendersonville... I don’t like Gallatin... somebody had to win. Ugh.

At this point, I guess I hope it’s gallatin, so it’s 8-0 vs 8-0.
