Playoffs are drawing near so here’s the possible matchups as of now:

 4. Douglas (R8) @ 1.Peabody (R7)

4. Union City (R7) @ 1. Fairley (R8) ( rematch from 2nd round)

3. Gibson County (R7) @ 2. Mitchell (R8)

3. MAHS (R8) @ 2. McKenzie ( R7)

still a lot of football to be played in both regions with key games this week to determine the standings.

Here's what I know about Gibson County....

From the way I see it, there's no way we can finish 4th.... we will likely finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or out....

If we win this week, and beat Peabody... Region champs

If we win this week, and lose to Peabody in a few weeks.... and Union City beats McKenzie and Halls, we will be 2nd.

If we beat Adamsville, lose to Peabody.... and McKenzie beats Union City, we will be third.....

If we lose to Adamsville, the 2-4 spots in the region wouldn't be decided until the final week of the season. If there is a 3-way tie between teams, it will go to best overall record. Still a lot of football to be played!

I think you got that pretty spot on. It should be a lot clearer for GC after this week when we know what happens between UC & McKenzie as long y’all take care of Adamsville. Which isn’t a guarantee though.

You are correct, I see y’all really having a great chance at hosting a playoff as a 2 seed just bc I’m biased and think we will win out. I see UC beating McKenzie, and seeing y’all beating the Ville Friday night which will be a battle.

That's what I am hoping for... We've got to take care of business and hopefully Union City beats McKenzie.

We are down our QB unfortunately, but with some personnel adjustments, and practice under our belts, I think we'll be fine.

That bye helped with a new quarterback learning the system for 2 weeks of practice

    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
    • Boyd could actually be a grade below what he is now, but his parents didn't see the need to "redshirt" him like the other city school down the road would have pushed for....

    • Who invited the First Family of Hartsville?
    • When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville  the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
