Jackson South Side @ Haywood

Haywood (7-1) hosts Jackson South Side (3-5) in a non-region battle this Friday.  The last time these two teams met was in 2002, when the Tomcats defeated the Hawks 14-3.

As for this season, the Cats and the Hawks have played 2 common opponents (Liberty and Ripley).  Haywood defeated Liberty 70-14 while South Side defeated the Crusaders 24-12.  Haywood defeated Ripley 42-7 while South Side lost to the Tigers 14-20. 

Haywood clinched the Region 7-4A championship last Friday by defeating Crockett Co. 45-30.  South Side should finish either 3rd or 4th in Region 6-4A.

Haywood is the favorite, but the Tomcats can’t have a let-down. I’m sure South Side would love to take down the Region 7 champs. Any thoughts or comments?

Haywood wins big and will start resting players for the playoffs

Since there is a 70% chance of one to two inches of rain Friday night, the Haywood - South Side game has been rescheduled for tomorrow night (Oct. 24).

Probably more than that. I was not impressed with anything they had when the tide rolled in earlier this year.
