I would honestly put 2-4 in a hat and have to pick that way.  I think White is probably the clear favorite (although it pains me to say it)!  I am excited about the new look Cavs, though.

Loss of Garrett is going to hurt CHS alot.   And WC is rolling.  I think 2nd-3rd would be where I would put them right now but I may change my mind after a few games!   I just don't know what to expect yet.  I  am excited to see what this team brings to the table.  I expect them to by physical and aggressive and we probably won't run as many set plays.   Should be fun to watch but I think we will take a step back this year.

Surprised that Cookeville is picked that high, unless they went on past tradition.  Coach Bray tough shoes to fill.

Agree.   I am not sure what everyone else lost but Cookeville lost two of their best players.  One graduated and the other transferred.  But they do have alot of talent returning so in theory they should be good.   Just not sure how everything comes together in year 1.  Based on talent I would say top 3 would be fair but I wouldn't be shocked if they struggled.   They have a pretty tough schedule so it will be a challenge.  I know Coach Heard will get them on track it just depends on how fast the players buy into his system/culture.   This team isn't used to losing so I know they will show up every night.   Guess we find out in two weeks.  Cavs host Lebanon 11/19.

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
