Siegel needs the best coach they can get. Doesn't matter age or anything else. Those saying Siegel needs a young coach would you turn down Rankin, Blade, Crawford just to name a few? There are several assistant coaches in the county with head coaching experience. Woodward from LHS, Williams and Carson from SHS, Barger from RHS, etc. I really think all of those would be good hires.

No established HC is gonna put his name in for this job, which is why everyone is saying go for a successful, energetic assistant

Think you’re underselling Watson a little bit. Did a good job at Blackman, teams were typically going into the third round of the playoffs. Just couldn’t pass Oakland. Think Siegel would be lucky to get a coach of that caliber.

Absolutely Agree - He is a Great Football Coach - But he would not go back there. Been there and done that.

First, Watson was originally at R'dale and then HC at Siegel and was a total FAILURE there.  Rankin saw to that as he did not want to lose Britton and have to face him there the same way he torpedoed Crawford at Blackman.

Second while the Pearl Cohn Coach is VERY good, Rutherford County is gun shy of ANY smaller school Metro Coach after the FAILURE of Coach A at R'dale.  Remember the Super was originally a Vice Principal at R'dale when they had Rankin and got Coach A.  He saw that program get ruined!  Thusly Ruth Co is now Metro shy.

Third the Coach at LaVergne is making it hard for any Coach of 'color' to get hired as a HC.  Not being prejudiced, just a fact of life.  Is it right?  No, but the uppity folks of the Siegel area would make it harder than it needs to be on a new Coach.

IF an assistant from Oakland is interested and the Head Coach is willing to let him go, look for him to be the odds on favorite.

To understand hiring in Ruth Co, you GOTTA know its History and the old boy network that been at play over the years.   The hire at Rockvale was a total surprise to a bunch of the OLD school way of hiring.

Pearl-Cohn is a better job than Siegel anyway.  Besides Oakland there isn't a school in Rutherford County that would beat Pearl-Cohn this year.

    • Why would the tax payers be responsible for paying for only a coach? In recent years with all the theft from various programs in schools from different programs with booster clubs (not just sports) the State of TN has made alot of rules surrounding booster clubs and how they handle money.  I have two documents to review, 1 is 40 pages from the state comptroller and the other is 37 pages from my district, so I can consider starting a booster club for my middle school program. It has been too much trouble in the past for the other coaches.  There is no way there needs to be an adult in the school building for 7 hours a day with no responsibilities except coaching.
    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
