Chase Young At Ohio State repaid a loan and it cost him

Young's case had nothing to do with taking money to play or to go to Ohio State. The kid paid the laon back because he's a good person.

This is a case where the NCAA is outrageous. More than likley he couldnt have gotten a loan from a bank or a credit card. It has nothing to do with his eligibilty.

Why did he get suspended for a game? Because he was caught accepting a extra benefit. Same as James Wiseman.  Don’t break the rules and you won’t get suspended. It’s as simple as that.

James Wiseman is ineligible Chase Young was suspended for a game.

James Wiseman was deemed eligible by the NCAA and the benefit was disclosed. The NCAA made him ineligible after he'd been eligible.

Chase Young borrowed money for a plane ticket for his girlfriend and paid the borrowed money back.

Like I said they both broke the rules and got caught. And both are paying the price.

There's no shame in a kid wanting to play for a coach of Penny's stature... hire Coach K (or anyone else who's reputation is on a similar national level) at fill in the blank school, and kids will transfer in. The violation of TSSAA's policy occurred when Penny paid for the move, and for the school system to file an injunction against TSSAA's ruling just illuminates where their interest lies.

This is what Powell is attempting to do to get a freshman from another Knox county HS. His mother is living in govt housing and she is running out of money. Powell booster/support staff is trying to help her get relocated I. the Powell zone. How do you trace cash.

TSSAA should strip Memphis East of their titles and this should resolve the court case that is still tied up after Memphis East field an injunction and a kangaroo court judge ruled in favor allowing Wiseman to play. The TSSAA had it right when the rules him ineligible.

The TSSAA does not have the money for a long court battle so this will not go to court.

I have said for a long time that every TSSAA student athlete should be granted one FREE transfer without any questions being ask.  If a second transfer were to take place the transfer must be legit with the family truly having a change of address.

The TSSAA is already in court over this case. They have the money and I believe the Memphis judge actually ruled in favor of the TSSAA this week. So Memphis East should be stripped of their title and they should be given a significant postseason ban in men's basketball. TSSAA has to take a stand against the school or they would be allowing this to happen everywhere.

Stripped of a title is ok. Banning them from the post season when the coach who violated the rules is no longer there and more than likley none of the players are on the team when Wiseman was is punishing the wrong people.

That is not what I am saying.  My feelings are that the times and family dynamics have changed since the TSSAA rules were written in the 1960's.  With more than 50% of all marriages ending in divorce kids do not live with both parents their entire academic career.  Often the student athlete is living with their mother and for whatever reason she cannot continue to care for the child so the grandparents who live on the other side of town have to care for the child.  Rural areas of Tennessee are much different from the inner cities and the problems they must deal with on a daily basis.

If you want to examine a bad rule you need to explore why a student athlete can be playing for public school XYZ as a freshmen and then transfer to a boarding school in Tennessee as a sophomore and be immediately eligible.  Everyone can debate Memphis East and Penny all they want but if the boarding schools ever decide to really begin recruiting (they have) you can turn out the lights because the party is over.  They have enough money to go and get every athlete they like if they so elect to do so.
