Whitwell at Gordonsville

I'm sure Gordonsville is glad to save some diesel this week and play at home while Whitwell looks to continue their playoff winning streak. The winner of this game baring a miracle will travel to South Pitt next week. Was Whitwell's win against Monterey a fluke of Monterey looking ahead or is Whitwell going to pull a Livingston Academy and play every playoff game on the road in route to a second state championship. I will take Gordonsville for the win.

I think Whitwell's win had to be a fluke.

As far as pulling an LA...they were competitive in their regular season games in 05. Whitwell hasn't. This had to be a fluke or something else has went on.

There was no reason that game should've been close. This shouldn't either, but...any given night...

I wouldn't call Whitvuhl win a fluke.  However, if Gordy can pack the house and get raucous, it will turn an even money game into a 2 or 3 score advantage.

Monterey isn't a bad team. I would call this a fluke, but it happens. I'll have to look at the film to see for sure. If Basin beat them as bad as they did, there was no reason for them to beat Monterey.  Oh well...

On the other hand,  the guy from 102.3 must be from Whitwell,  because he was super excited about that score.

Croz it was awful! No fire in the boys and they could not complete a drive. The last 3 games Monterey played they didn’t look good at all but last night they was horrible! Congrats on the Basin win! Good luck this week and the week after. Gville is fired up and fire on all cylinders! Gville by 21!

I’m picking Gordy in this one.  I think #53 and #54 for Gordy at tackle will handle those big slow Whitwell “all state” lineman, and allow Gordy to run off the edges.  I will say that the most impressive player for Whitwell that I seen was the kid that played LB or Safety.  I can’t remember his name but his number was a single digit.

hey croz what grades are those two guys in?

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
