tonybologna
Boone has played over their heads just a bit. They lost their star RB Charlie Cole in the 1st game of this season but his replacement Brennan Blair has made that look like a negligible loss for the Trailblazers. South-Doyle has beaten some really good teams the 2nd half of the season. They blew out Gibbs earlier in the season 62-17. They beat a really good Knox Central team 38-10. They lost to Powell by 3 points 15-12 to end the regular season. They also beat a good Knox Halls team 49-21. I just don't see Boone being able to stay with the Cherokees. I say South-Doyle 42 Daniel Boone 21. Edited November 10, 2019 by tonybologna

I say South-Doyle 42 Daniel Boone 21. Not sure they’ve played over their heads. They played a very tough schedule. Their 4 losses were all to highly ranked teams at the time. I’m not sure they can hang for 4 quarters but I think they keep it close. Most predicted Halls would come into Boone and win and we know how that turned out. Boone keeps it close but the run may end here for a year that overall turned into a very good season. Those kids have played their hearts out - and to be the only Region 1 team left standing says a lot

blazer1set
Any SD fans on here who can give us some highlights, i.e., what type of offense does SD run, who are the playmakers, what is the defensive strength (line, LB's, DB's, etc.)? Looks like SD's only losses have been very close games, unlike Boone who got completely blown up in our losses.

He had offers from other Power 5 conference schools as well and is as good as advertised.

He rushed 11 times for 245 yards against Cherokee last Friday. 4 TDs as well. He could've walked in the end zone a couple times. Was hardly touched all night. As long as we can stop Boone's rush I feel very confident about this game.

He's rushed for nearly 2000 yards and over 30 TDs, and they'll try to get him involved early and often. They've got a good offensive line and a pretty solid defense. They also cover sideline-to-sideline well. Powell was the only team to keep Young bottled up (57 yards on 26 carries), but other than that, he's been a force. If you can eliminate the big plays from Young, SD is vulnerable. Versus Fulton, AC, Powell, and Seymour (ejected early vs. Seymour), he was held to under 4 yards per carry. SD won just one of those 4 games. In their other 7 games (all wins), he averaged almost 13 yards per carry and 235 yards per game.
blazer1set
Thanks for the info guys. Well at least we made it to Round 2, that doesn't always happen for Boone. And it will be great to watch such a good player in a live game. From what I say we just don't have the team speed to keep up with him. Does SD have any decent concession food (grilled HB's, Chick-fila sandwiches, etc.) ?

Those kids have played their hearts out - and to be the only Region 1 team left standing says a lot Boone has played some tough opponents. I've seen them in person though. Brennan Blair who's filling in for injured star RB Charlie Cole is a faster & more shiftier RB. Cole is more of a punishing RB. Blair is a threat to take it the distance each time he touches the ball. However, Boone overall at all positions just doesn't have the athletes that South-Doyle has. Boone might be able to put up some points but their defense in my opinion can't stop South-Doyle enough to keep it too close. Boone might/could keep it close thru halftime but I would be surprised if Boone stays close the 2nd half.
Mavericksinflight
I think this one goes to South Doyle 35-

That is the problem with us, and really all 5A/6A NET teams..... there will always be a handful of good players, but overall team speed is just not there compared to the Knoxville-ish teams. But overall I think most Boone fans are just happy to be in the playoffs, a few weeks ago that didn't seem possible.
