Not even close. I am from middle Tennessee and enjoy good high school sports talk in a professional way. This constant and consistent childishness should stop. It just makes those people, their communities and their programs look bad. Treating it as a joke or a redneck game or whatever is silly and embarrassing. It gets old for everyone that continually sees it.

so...start your own thread, Junior

Kingsport Times News is kinda sorta giving DB a chance.    I think the last sentence says it all.

DOBYNS-BENNETT’S PATH

The Indians started the season with a thunderous win over Tennessee High. It was an important step, posting notice that 2019 would not resemble 2018 in any way.

More wins followed as the Indians navigated their first eight games without a four-quarter challenge.

Adversity hit in the form of Science Hill in game No. 9. The Indians didn’t perform up to their established level, suffered the upset loss, and put themselves in position to lose grip of the top spot from Region 1.

Fortunately for the Indians, the potentially critical defeat was undone when the Hilltoppers couldn’t close out the league title. They lost in Week 11 to Bearden, which looked like a pretty good football team. The same Bulldogs showed up Friday night at J. Fred Johnson Stadium and tested the Tribe, carrying a 14-7 lead into halftime. But the Indians had their own case to present, owning the second half and keeping their season alive.

It was D-B’s first come-from-behind win since a 7-0 second-quarter deficit against Tennessee High, and it says a lot about the players and coaches. Trailing 14-7 at halftime in the playoffs — with no significant or recent history to say, “Hey, we’ve been here before, let’s do it again” — could be a scary place. But coach Joey Christian and his team didn’t panic, made halftime adjustments and won the football game.

Such steely nerves could come in handy if Maryville jumps ahead Friday.

But Alcoa (3A) beat DB by 2 touchdowns!

Yep ... No excuses here , and I don't think DB can beat Maryville , come next year I see a closer game ... DB has a lot of returners next year !

Now for the SH and Alcoa game - both were late minute drives - both within 35yards of scoring but again both resulting in killer stupid mistakes (Alcoa personal Foul + fumble on last drive to tie , SH was 2 late personals on last drive ) - mental mistakes that can't be had in the Maryville game ......

i just hope DB can keep it with 3 TDs ... Jet H for DB is a beast and I look to see him put on a show vs Maryville !

For all the hype that some put into this DB defense, they gave up 23 points to what in thought was a pretty anemic Science Hill and 21 to the worst Alcoee offense since 2011.
Murvil is going to get their 28+ points, but I see no way that DB can hold serve on offense.
This Murvil defense, at every position, is Alcoee’s equal.
Enough football tawlk tho.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It’s gonna be a BIG game in the rain up in Kingsport Friday. I expect “all the good ET fans“ (bow your head) to be there to watch the two winningest programs in the state collide. Looking at the other parts of the bracket, this game may be for all the marbles. It should be a slobber knocker.

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
