District12AA
Sitting at my nephew's basketball game tonight and the refs called 53 fouls in the girls game and the boys game we are at 46 heading into the 4th. Is this something new this year in terms of a point of emphasis calling games tight early on or is this game an anomaly?? It is really disrupting the flow of the game for both sides. Coaches, players, and fans are all frustrated. I know they have a tough job but man this is brutal.
91goldeneagle
I'm not for sure for the refs the only way to slow down play, or to catch their breath, is to call fouls. Not a lot of half court game these days. I sat through a middle school game couple of years ago with about the same number of fouls called. It was almost comical!! But very frustrating
boyfromsi
It's the annual transition from AAU to Prep basketball. Happens every year.
FLMS
The refs have been told to call it that way this year. They were told to call it that way last year and did for a few weeks and then decided to stop calling everything. The tssaa has made it clear to the officials to call it tight this year. Will be interesting to see if they do that the entire year.

Careful. I ask for consistency for last couple of years. All I got was current and former officials telling me if I could do any better I could have their whistle or there was not enough people who wanted to become officials. Just saying. Be careful. They will come after you. Lol

There is nothing worse than an official who has the vibe of I really don't want to be here and I'm not hustling. There is nothing better than an official who sprints the court and has a lot of fun with the kids. You can have fun and be professional at the same time. 1
