I agree, PC will do what they do best "choke". FB will say I'm haten when just calling it as it is. Facts, Truth somehow will be haten. No hate whatsoever at all against PC, kinna was even pulling for em tonight (thought they'd get upset) playing a 6-6 team. Just for the better game (matchup) like Milan would of been. PC is lucky to be here and even FB should acknowledge that. PC will be tighter than a new pair of boots. Oh not again

You been saying this same thing since playoffs started, on who will upset us. We both know you have something against PC for whatever reason. Just to be honest we don't care what your opinion of us is, we back in semi finals for 5th time in 6 years. Now go choke on that!!!

As Yogi Berra once said "it's like deja vu all over again". We were at this same Juncture with Pearl-Cohn two years ago. This time, however, I believe that Covington will get a little more respect from PC now that we won the first go round.

For you PC fans, you are going to see a little different type of opponent than you saw in 2017. This team's strength is our defense. If you can score 28 on Covington like you did on Giles County, you will have a good chance to beat us. Our offense is plain vanilla 95% running the ball straight at you.

Can you give us an idea of what the 2019 PC team has as its strengths?

Pearl-Cohn is better now than in 2017, and y'all are not! That's no disrespect at all. One thing that made y'all dangerous back in 17 was that y'all could pass the ball out wing t offense. Y'all defense is str8 but I haven't seen a team this year that stopped our offense completely. 2017 we blew 20 point lead that was our fault. Like told everyone since week 2, our defense was finally caught up with our offense and that's scary thing.

Nothing against PC whatsoever Firebird(and you know that). It's just the curiosity of who's gonna upset PC this year. You guys have a habit of it. Ask any fan any class any part of the state which highly favored team typically gets upset & there'll be no argument PC. Congratulations to yall, Congrats are in order, yall survived the upsets this year. Won't be no upsets here on out. It's 50/50 now. I'll give my assessment/expectations early week

Project-a-matchup shows PC winning 28-20 over Covington.

The Sonny-Moore power rankings show PC 129, Covington 126. Add 3 points for home field advantage, and PC is a 6 point favorite.

I'm OK being the underdog here. After losing our four-year starter at QB to graduation last year, and after Coach Marty Wheeler took another coaching job in Cleveland, TN following last season, nobody would have given the Covington team a chance to be where we are right now...preparing to play in the 3A semifinals.

This year's team has quietly accomplished much more than anybody thought possible when the season began. Coach J.R. Kirby moved up from OC to head coach and we have simply gotten better. Our young players have stepped up and made the plays to put us where we are right now.

We have survived in-season injuries to All-State linebacker Caleb Winfrey and to All-State running back Marcus Hayes that led to two losses in the regular season to Region 7-3A opponents. This was the Chargers third year in the region, and this team was undefeated in Region play the previous two years. Losses in 7-3A are nothing to be ashamed of, because it can realistically claim to be the toughest 3A region in the state. Polls this year had four of the teams listed in the top ten at various times: Covington, South Gibson, Milan, and Martin Westview. The fifth place team, McNairy County, missed the playoffs with a 7-3 overall record.

Maybe Pearl-Cohn is able to follow up on the projections and defeat Covington. If so, however, they are going to know they have been in a real game.

WOW! This will be a war!

Just when you think PC has a big edge, here comes Covington back up thru a bunch of tough playoff teams to show they are for REAL!

I like PC's one game at a time approach this year, and not overlooking the opponents. Will that be enough?

The team that comes out with the win will be a tough matchup in the Championship game!:thumb:

Best of luck to both teams!!!B)

I will not argue any of your points because I agree with you, if you guys can score on our defense, y’all will go to the ship. However, This Covington team keeps getting better and finding ways to win, so I expect a heck of a game. Congratulations to both teams and GO CHARGERS

Don’t know how you can say this Covington team isn’t better. Pretty much rolled everybody they’ve played except a SG team that won the region this year. Every min region game has been a blowout. And did all this without their best player. Lots of young guys out there for Covington and it’s looking like they’ll be good for a while.

Ok but only thing is our offense has seen everything you can throw at them. We have seen 6"3 230 d1 Linebackers, 6"3 290-300 pounds DLineman. We have seen 6foot plus DBs with amazing offers. We have played less talent that was disciplined. 3-4,4-3,33 stack,425. BUT everybody knows to win this game our defense must play lights out.  I dont care if it's a 7-10 game

Sounds like you’ve seen a lot of good individual defenders. Same for Covington D. Has seen a QB that has D1 offers from pretty much everywhere. Held him to 1 TD. Seen some stud running backs. South Gibson scored 50 against Haywood and Covington held them to 1 touchdown. The last 2 weeks Covington has had multiple 1st and goals in which they’ve held the opponent scoreless.

I'm OK with y'all thinking that. The only difference is that you have never lined up across the ball from Caleb Winfrey and friends. Wooddale had the ball last night first and goal at the 7 yard line. Result - no score. Later in the game, Wooddale had the ball first and goal at the 4 yard line. Same result - Covington shut them out. Like I said, Covington is playing championship level defense.

Best bend but don’t break defense I’ve seen. You feel like you’re moving the ball against Covington and they force a turnover or stop you.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..

    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
