I respect the academics comment some disagree with my thought on it I get that. It is just my opinion on the offerings not as much as the teaching.

If parents were really worried about academics they would send there kids to UH were my wife works. You have to have a masters to even teach their.

You was the one talking about  all the county kids watching from the couch if they still played in the county. So you are saying they have the same success without them or are you willfully ignorant?

No, I was talking about those kids who chose to come to Elizabethton would be home watching from their couch but now instead, they are headed for the state championship game.

As far as success of the team if Maupin and the other couple you allude to were not there, we cannot know.

We are not in that situation. If they were not there then I am sure Whitten would coach some other kids to fill their positions.

They are not the only kids that has ever played for Elizabethton.

We have always had talent from Elizabethton and surrounding areas Maupin and Rollins are nothing new.

Again, IT IS TEAM WORK.

Do you think all we need to put on the field is Maupin and Rollins come Sat. in Cookville?

The academics part is a wash. My son would get no better education at Elizabethton then he does at Cloudland. I’m happy for Russell and Mitchell. If Mitchell would of stayed in Avery Co he would have had a really good high school career there. The coach Avery has now is just as good as Witten if not better. I’m pretty sure the Mitchell’s own a house in Elizabethton. I’m happy for Elizabethton and really like Ryan and what he does for my son helping him at Huddle to try be a better football player.

Don't take it personally but my wife, as a substitute teacher knows differently. It may not be so where you are but here it is a fact. There is a difference.

Sorry but there isn’t. My wife is Teacher and my sister in law teaches at Cloudland. There is a lot of good teachers their. I can promise you if your kid was where taught by wife it would be a blessing.

I am sure it would be and that is not what I am saying. I am saying that often times kids come to Elizabethton, they need remedial help. I am not saying that about Cloudland but it is indeed a fact that some schools are very lax in enforcing curriculum and the kids are not prepared to advance, even though they are advanced to the next grade.

I am sure that your wife and sister would concur as to what I am saying even about some kids that come to Cloudland from other schools.

Are you saying Elizabethton could put anyone at Qb and Rb and get to Cookeville?

Tell ya what, fellas, Coach Wilson has done a heck of a Coaching job this year.   After the loss to Marshall County I didn't see this as a possibility.  He's a great Coach and he loves his program!

They actually turned a corner after that loss, even though they lost one more, from that game to now they improved greatly, these kids have grit, and dont look now, but I actually like our chances.....lol

I am saying talents are developed. You are not born with them.

There has always been and always will be coaches that can develop talent and kids with the desire and ability to meet the challenges.

Maupin an Rollins are not the only kids that have skills. Others do but have yet to develop them . So the answer is... we cannot know till one is coached to meet his or her true potential.

When Maupin and Rollins are gone we will see.

I don’t think kids leave for education reasons. There may be a sport that kid loves that the other school doesn’t take seriously. At every school kids get pushed along to next grade. At my wife’s school kids leave so they can graduate or to pass a class then comeback.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
