Thoughts during the off-season on our Wildcat Football team.  Our undefeated freshman team from a few years ago are now seniors... We have several exciting younger players to watch... With offseason training and hard work how far will it take us?

For a look back at that 2017 Freshmen team, David Clary has posted a video on YouTube titled The 2017 Oak Ridge Freshman Wildcats. It is 9 minutes long. I just wish I had a roster for that team so I could know who is who.

Thank you very much for the roster. A lot is expected next season from this group but I notice many of the players played key roles this past season. A key for the Wildcats next season is blending all the classes together to form one Band of Wildcat Brothers.

Thanks again for the roster and Happy Holidays to your Family. RWR!

The main thing is speed, we didn't have it in a lot of places we usually do in 2019, there are good players coming back, questions are, can Jacob Adams be replaced, big loss there, Gibbons should be sound at QB, but who are the backups, we had some questions there last fall, glad Gibbons was not hurt. We need a good tight end and another wideout, and definitely more speed in the secondary. The lines should be pretty good, a few guys to replace there. Kicking game will be wide open for someone to step up and punt and do kickoffs, field goals and extra points.  The schedule will again be tough, but at least DB and Powell will be home games, along with Mt Juliet. West looks like the toughest road game, with a trip to Farragut, coming off a down year as well.  The main thing is to get off to a fast start at Hardin Valley, OR stumbled badly in that game, getting off to a slow start for the season.

There are 16 out of 36 of these guys still on the roster.  The key to next year is going to be accountability in the off season weight training program.  First, attendance has to mandatory.  Second, there has to be coaches running the workouts, making sure each player has a program to follow, making sure that guys are working hard and progressing, not just showing up hanging around for 45 minutes and then hitting the door.  Take Murvil for example.  They workout early in the morning all summer and during the season.  If their guys miss more than 4 workouts, they are fired. lol.  They are welcome to try again next year.  There has to be that "all in"  level of commitment from all involved.  We don't have that right now.

I just thought this post had many good ideas and it should be read twice.

The problem will once again be the lack of speed. Also, I didn't see anyone who can come close to replacing Adams.

An undefeated freshmen team translates to ZERO on the varsity level. Plus, around half of that team isn't even around anymore. As far as the rest of your post goes, it sounds great but this ain't Maryville. But I do hope the Wildcats have a great off season and a very good season next year. I can't wait until it gets here.
