The 97 team could have won it all in any classification. This was when only 2 teams from each region made the playoffs.

Round 1: 49-6 over DCA

Round 2: 41-12 over Celina

Round 3: 56-0 over CPA

Round 4: 48-7 over Oneida

Chanpionship: 45-0 over Clarksville Academy

Actually, it was set up like it is now, except there were only 5 classes. The top 4 teams made the playoffs.

Jackson Christian cost LC one in 2006. They had that receiver that lived in Ripley. They beat us 26 to 21 that night in the last 30 seconds of the game. Nothing is for sure but JCS went on to have a very easy semifinal game and then won the title. USJ in 1993 also caused LC from not getting there. We lost 13 to 8. I think they lost in championship 14 to 7 to Trousdale County. Memphis ECS caused LC two titles in 1983 and 1984. TCA is the only private school I know that did things the right way and played by the public school rules.

To get technical,  ECS didnt cost you titles in 83 and 84, the may have cost you the chance to play for the title, but that's it. Gordonsville lost to ECS in the title game in 83, but beat them in 84.

I sure wouldn't bet on Greenback unless they add players, if they don't SP will be in the Championship game. Lake Co looks like a good bet to me in the west.

Agree, there 2nd string didn't impress me but they will probably do some orchestration over the off-season.

We will never know but saw both games and felt like Lake County was better than Gordonsville. Just my opinion.

I appreciate the kind words you said about TCA. In reference to the Jackson Christian game in 2006 I was there in the Press Box calling the game on the radio that night. I am not sure what kid but you were talking about that you say lived in Ripley. I was not personally aware of one but that doesn't mean that there wasn't one. Even though a young man may have lived in Ripley, it was perfectly legal for him to go to Jackson Christian. If he lived in Ripley  he certainly could not have gone to Lake County . I have all the respect in the world for Lake County. The kids that play up there or a bunch of stuff son of a guns and the coaches squeeze everything out of them that they can. You should not be mad at Jackson Christian because they had a receiver from Ripley. You are real issue should be with the Public Schools that you have lost kids to buy transfer such as Dyersburg and other schools in and around your area. Those are the schools you should have a beef with. To my knowledge no athlete from Lake County has ever transferred to play at a private school in Jackson. I have vivid memories of that 2006 playoff game. It was certainly a Wild and Woolly affair. Not only was it Wild on the field but it was wild in around the area of the Press Box. I laugh about it now but there was one fan who shook a milk jug full of rocks in my face all night long. The same fan could easily Hear My Call of the game and he got so mad after we scored the winning touchdown but he turned around and tried to unplug my equipment. I even had to have security come up and stand next to the Press Box for the remainder of the game. I remember a group of fans staring at us will after the game is over in the crowd had dispersed while we packed up equipment. It was the group that had been in front of us all night. My partner and I ended up having to have a police escort to our vehicle. I have to admit I was quite worried at the time. I laugh about it now because some of the things that happened that were rather humorous but we sure scary at the time. Anyhow, to get back on track, Lake county is in a golden era for your football program. You have a group of kids on that team that will be long revered for what they have accomplished over their careers at Lake County. teams like this year's Falcon ball Club don't come around very often. Instead of stewing about 2006, take the time to just bask in the glory of what your boys have accomplished. I was personally routing it very hard for them. Also, accolades go out to the Lake County fan who took the Greenback flag away from that one Punk and tossed it onto the stadium floor. That was twelve kinds of Awesome. I apologize for the long-winded message, but that's how I roll sometimes. Again congratulations to Lake County. I'm personally very happy for you

Just because it was legal for him to live in Ripley and go to Jackson Christian doesn’t mean at the time It was fair. You know what he was trying to say. The private school stuff that went on while playing with the public schools  was bull crap. Peabody would have went back to back twice in the last 6 years if it wasn’t for the unfair stuff that has went on.

Not stewing at all about it. Just making conversation about Lake County. People seem to forget that Lake County is a traditional 1A power. LC has been good in every decade and with a few breaks along the way Lake County could have 3 or 4 more gold balls. Lake County is kind of forgotten among the best programs in 1A. Yes, LC has down years but most of the time LC has very good years. Maybe I could have worded different. LC has been a top tier program since the 60s. My point was Lake County usually has to get through some of the best in 1A year and year out to even think about making it to Cookeville. The only private school I will ever be bitter toward is ECS.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
